I just don't understand why this restaurant has such good reviews. The food was not nearly as good as your average "hole-in-the-wall" Mexican place, but it cost a lot more. One small basket of chips to share and $2 for refills--really?? Service was friendly but slow; food took a while and lacked spice. I usually count on reviews to steer... More

My husband and I stopped here for dinner since we hadn't dined here in years. We chose to sit in the outside courtyard since the weather was nice. The fountain in the middle had bees buzzing around it, as did the benches, and the table we were led to. We asked to sit in the covered area on the side... More

Returning to El Serrano last week left us disappointed in the quality of the food as to compared to our previous visits. What was once one of our favorite dishes, "The Chicken Enchilada" turned out to be a lack luster effort of Mexican cuisine. A tortilla that appeared to have been heated in a microwave, refried been that were pasty... More

We had a Peruvian dish called Chuleta Puerco (pork chops with pineapple) and it was excellent. The service & staff were great. Would recommend this for a nice, unique experience.

This was one of the most unique restaurants I've ever been to! They have options for special "private dining" rooms, located through corridors. They even have upstairs dining. El Serrano also has live entertainment and a bar. I was with a large group and due to the structure of the building it was quite crammed. I would definitely suggest place... More

Shrimp fajitas were great! The staff from this restaurant was really friendly. They seem to have a very family friendly atmosphere.

In all my years of traveling around the United States, I have NEVER experienced a Peruvian/Mexican restaurant more special than El Serrano! It has such a grand feel even as one pulls into the parking lot. You can tell that the owner went to great lengths to create a very special dining experience for each guest! The quality and coziness... More

This area famed for fabulous food prepared and cooked by the Amish holds a hidden jewel in the Peruvian restaurant, El Serrano. We arrived too late to eat in one of the Amish restaurants and the receptionist in the hotel gave us list of restaurants in the area. We both liked the look of El Serrano and read the reviews... Like visiting Peru! Authentic, imported wooden decor, music (live on the weekends) and flavorful, beautifully plated cuisine made with care and served with a smile!! The bar offers inventive, delicious cocktails too! The salsa alone is like it's fresh from the garden with a full, rounded flavor! They have fajitas with caramelized veggies that leave you wanting more and delicious,... More

If you haven't visited El Serrano along Lancaster's Columbia Avenue lately, you haven't visited El Serrano. Or, perhaps it is more appropriate to say, you haven't visited Peru. Every square inch of the Latin-American restaurant has been extensively redesigned, upgraded and refurbished authentically, with architectural details similar to those of 150 years ago--to the point that stepping through its hand-carved mahogany doors is like entering a Peruvian hacienda. As owner Manuel Torres says, "it's like going on vacation."
