Approximately 30 klms south west of Cessnock n Pokolbin is the tiny historic village of Wollombi. On our Hunter Valley trip we opted for the back roads from Sydney via Round Corner Dural to Wisemans Ferry, then the vehicular ferry across the Hawkesbury River and once off the ferry turn right. Wollombi is approximately 100 klms or around 2 hours.... More

We always make a stop at this Tavern on our way to the Hunter Valley. It's a relaxing spot sitting out on their veranda sipping a beer. Be sure to try their Dr Jurd's Jungle Juice. Something different.

We had steak sandwiches which were good and made in quickly. The bar was quite characterful and the outside seating pleasant on a nice day.

The Wollombi Tavern is tired, rundown and flat as a tack. The barman looked as though he didn't want to be there and smoked in the beer garden as he haphazardly cleared a few tables. We ordered our food and collected cutlery from nearby buckets. The fork bucket was empty and we were directed to scrounge through a messy mixed... More

Exceptionally cold beer. A bit rough and ready but it's mostly a bikers style so that was expected. Nice sample of jungle juice too!

We camped here for one night, during the second half of February. Initially intrigued by the entry in the camping guide that came with the van, we very quickly felt at home. Although we didn't sample the food - it all looked good though, the beers were good and cold. This was very much a home from home in terms... More

The wollombi tavern has seen better days yes the beer is cold but the food itself is just above ordinary my husband had fish and chips and I had the special of the day beef rissols wich were smothered in gravey and tastless. Stop and have a beer but dont eat. The kitchen looked dirty and run down. Once outside... More

We stopped in on Valentines Day with the puppies for lunch. Beer was cold and the garden is a great spot especially as puppies are welcome. We had the rump steak which was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Parma was pretty good too. Would definitely come back!

Travelled down on Australia Day, emailed in advance asking if we can camp in their back yard - quick response "no worries". We've had a lovely time, good meal tonight, way too many beers (that's why we brought the Winnebago) and enjoyed time here. The Pub is staffed by a bunch of people who, at first, seem standoffish, but after... More
