We visited on Friday 24th February based on other reviews. Sadly the food failed to live up to expectation. The childrens menu really was a joke and designed for kids whose sense of taste stops at chicken nuggets and chips. The quantity was very small - just 2 small strips of chicken. The kids desert choice is ridiculous - a... More

The Polgooth in is set in a beautiful rural setting and the food was always good there. But now they've changed their description to a family fun destination I havn't been back. Being me, I don't want loadsa kids running round when we're on a night out. I do understand that this would suit many parents just fine though.

Thank you for your comments, but they are a bit confusing as we have never described ourselves as a 'family fun destination' .... We do however welcome everyone including well behaved children. More

This is quite simply the best pub I've been to in a very long time. The bar staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, even when they're busy. The fish pie is genuinely amazing; and the fish and chips is terrific. The puddings look equally good, but we were too full to try one. I'd never had the Gin which... More

This pub is a hidden gem!! the food was very good and the staff although really busy were on their toes and very attentive. The seafood was particularly good but also the Calves liver was just gorgeous, too full for puddings unfortunately but all the more reason to return again soon

We had a fantastic evening here during our recent stay in St Austell. The service was great and we felt welcomed from the moment we walked in. Food was delicious and they have a good menu to choose from. The quiz was lots of fun too! We would love to return if we are in the area again.

Fantastic choice of great food with something for everyone! The food took a while to arrive but it was worth waiting for. You could taste the quality of the produce and most of it locally produced. Would recommend to one and all!

We visited here last night and were so glad we did. We took our puppy and 5 year old and from the moment we arrived we were made so welcome. We had a lovely table next to a roaring fire and within minutes our order was taken. We had fish and chips which was delicious. The fish was fresh and... More

Me and my partner had dinner in this pub on our first day in Cornwall and we had, fish and chips. It was nice food but average. It was a bit pricey but not to bad as you did get a good portion of fish and a large coke was about £15pp. I would expect to pay this in most... More

Took the wife to this very nice pub / eatery for a romantic evening meal. Service was good even though the dining room was busy. Food was good.
