Six of us had lunch-3 of which were sandwiches on sub rolls- cheap nasty dried up bread. Seemed like it had been taken out of the freezer and defrosted in a microwave for too long. i told the waiter and he said they had probably been toasted too long! they weren't toasted! To be fair the fish finger filling was lovely and the waiter did offer us a free coffee as recompense. A friend had a massive chunk of the centre of cabbage in his coleslaw too. For a lovely place like this it was very disappointing

The menu offered something for everyone. I had the lamb on a bed of creamy mash and tender broccoli, followed by sticky toffee pudding with custard The prices were good and offered value for money . Overall an excellent evening and overnight stay in the hotel

They don’t take reservations so place be patient when arriving as they are very busy. We arrived this Sunday lunch time with 6 adults, we had to wait around 5 minutes as people were coming in and out pretty quickly. 👍🏻 We had 5 carverys and a pizza which was very good. Personally don’t understand mushy peas on a carvery but maybe it’s a Pontefract thing 😂 We had a selection of puddings 🍰 and drink 🥃 and the bill came to around £105 for all of us. Overall friendly staff and chef 👨🏻‍🍳 on the carvery was very nice. Overall 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Came to Rogerthrope for a carvery, we have been before and live locally. We already searched and the carvery was served till 8, so we arrived just after 6:30pm to walk through the door to over hear someone being served a drink and asking about the carvery to hear that it wasn’t running anymore due to there being no meat left? So the service still had just under 2 hours to go with no meat? The bar tender who served the customer didn’t even seem apologetic and the customer even questioned her about the time too as she had rung previously to check on times of service. It’s disgraceful and there was no information given before hand , and no valid reasoning for the shocking service. Won’t be going again!

We initially booked for Mother’s Day 2020 but due to lockdown could not visit. We were given a gift voucher to the value of £106. We visited today and ordered food and soft drinks. The food came out muddled with another table’s order. This was not too much of a problem but it did mean slightly staggered eating. After delivering the food we had no check back from any staff to check if all ok or to offer any sauces. We had to walk to the bar to request horseradish and ketchup for the kids meal. The food itself was presented beautifully and was very tasty. No complaints for the food - compliments to the chef. We ordered 3 desserts and 1 coffee. The desserts took a long time to come - around 45 minutes. When they arrived there was no coffee and again no one came to check back on the food so we did not have the opportunity to highlight the missing item. The staff were very friendly but things appeared to be disorganised and long waits for food with no prior warning. We paid using the gift voucher for £106. The bill was £86. We were a little disappointed that there was no mention of the difference in value or even an offer of anything - could have offered a bottle of wine to takeaway or at least mentioned it. The voucher was taken without a comment!! The final, probably small criticism, is the fire door behind the bar that was left to loudly slam every time someone walked through. This was a every 10 minute occurrence for a good hour! Spoilt it a bit as once we noticed it, it became a bugbear.

Great place the staff are friendly and helpful. I had my pre evening wedding meal with my family and the meals were great and cooked to perfection we all really enjoyed our meals 😋 and reasonable prices too 😊. Morning of the wedding had a wedding breakfast there and the choices there are great with either traditional full English or continental style breakfast even cerals plenty of choice. Highly recommended will definitely be going back there again.

We arrived at the adjoining hotel to be guided here for all drinks and food as the hotel it’s self doesn’t accommodate this. We walked around from our room to grab a drink but found the “PUB” set up as 99% as a restaurant. We were guided to the two seats at the bar or two seats next to a barrel rather than any tables all having been set for dinner. This was very disappointing for hotel guests that just want a drink and relax with no where to do this. We left and returned for dinner thinking it might be just us but sadly the food did not match up to the hotel rooms. We started with prawn and crayfish salad which was no better than average. We also opted for the mushroom starter which was fat breakfast mushrooms cooked in garlic served in what you could only be described as a soup as a sauce with plain white baguette. I would of taken a picture but I didn’t want to waste my time or yours with the look of poor uninspiring bland food. We move on to the main course of belly pork which was served with a lack of clear understanding of presentation and portion control. I opted for the pink lamb which was so over cooked I don’t think it had ever seen the colour pink in its life, with broccoli served as only can be mentioned as school dinners “beyond the kiss of life”. We thought that it couldn’t get any worst but we should have just left, as it did. We ordered puddings and sticky toffee pudding and custard “cold” OMG you could make this evening any worst. Clearly this pub is good for Sunday lunch and large portions which is why people return but when it’s attached to a hotel trying to engage with customers that require non bulk school dinners but more finer things, this just it not living up to the rating it’s been given. Service staff 💫💫💫💫 Cooking skills 🤦🏽 Food 🤦🏽‍♂️ Overall 💫

Really lovely pub attached to a hotel. Good atmosphere. Staff friendly. Visited here as came steak night a while back and it was lovely - but only 1 covered steak with a blue cheese sauce on the menu. Shame. Was looking forward to a nice steak but should have checked the menu before booking. Struggled a bit with the mains menu as a non fish meat eater but settled on the pie Had to move tables as glass top was unsteady Enjoyed the starters, the mushroom one was superb. Could have done with a bit more bruschetta but this was super tasty. Hubby enjoyed his pork bruschetta but agreed a bit extra Waited 40 mins after finishing starters to get mains The steak pie was ok, plenty of meat and huge but ran out of mash less than halfway through, I thought it was a bit bland taste wise but hubby enjoyed his. Gravy was yummy. As was the mash and cabbage. Left the biscotti desert as both that and the ice cream was completely tasteless. Never left a desert before in my life! Was the tiniest slice ever, waste of £6.50 Overall a nice place but the food was not nice enough to make me want to return anytime soon.

We visited last week for Sunday dinner with fond memories of a lovely Carvery. Upon arrival we discovered they no longer do carvery but still do Sunday dinners- this is fine. The pub wasn’t very busy so we expected our Sunday dinners to come quite promptly but it took 45 minutes from time of ordering! The gammon had a side of pork scratching from a packet placed on top of it and it was all just warm not really hot. We felt the quality had really gone down hill as the carvery used to be much better

I stayed at the hotel next door with my Mum and we ate all our meals at the Jacobean. The staff were absolutely lovely - very friendly and gave excellent service. The food was just gorgeous - my only complaint is that there was too much ha ha! Breakfast was plentiful with a buffet consisting of fruit/cereal/meat/cheese/pastries/yoghurts etc... also had the option of a cooked breakfast which was really lovely too. I would definitely visit here again! On our 2nd day I had to go to work so my Mum sat in here for a few hours until I got back - again the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Keep up the fabulous work xx

Always get a pretty decent meal here especially as they serve food all day long. The menu changes at 4pm but usually visit before then. The staff are always friendly and good at their job. I had fish strips with chips and peas, too many chips for my liking but it was tasty. My husband had the slow roast belly pork with mash and stuffing. He couldn’t fault. Having said that he didn’t really look at the bill till we got home and he was astonished as the price of a pint of Amstel beer was £5.60 which as far as I am concerned is a total ripoff. If they want people to go for a repeat meal I would think they will have to put the price down. Don’t think we will be going again for a long time.

Beautiful Sunday lunch. Took a little while to be served from ordering but it was worth the wait. Our son had the slow roasted belly pork but wanted to make some changes to the sides and was all accommodated. We will be back

My inlaws took us to this lovely restaurant. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The food was hot and very tasty, even hot plates 😁 I had fish pie which was just beautiful. The rest had pork belly, scampi and steak pie. All very very good. The broccoli and Stilton soup and chicken skewers starters were yummy too. The portions were massive as well so a fair bit left over unfortunately. I can't recommend this place enough.
