My husband and I have lived only minutes from the Doyle for over 40 years and it was only this past year that we entered the "restaurant" . We had a great meal. For the price it was fantastic. There are only a couple of table inside and few bar stools. I believe there are some tables in the back... More

The Doyle is a famous stop on the AT. It is steps from the trail and keeps track of its guest by trail name. However, don't expect a hotel/motel experience. The carpets are worn, the bathrooms shared. Consider it a hostel and it has plusses: private rooms and a bar downstairs. There are many hostels that do not meet the... More

Three of us are here recently when backpacking on the Appalachian Trail through Pennsylvania. Our food was filling and was served quickly. Our waitress Vicky was quite memorable and entertaining. Although we chose not to stay at the hotel, we felt that every hiker should at least experience a meal at the Doyle!

The trail goes right through Duncannon (one of the few towns that it runs right thru). Great place for Hikers to stop, eat and stay.

We stopped by here several times but one time we stopped after hiking the Appalachian Trail with our dog. Even though she wasn't allowed in the dining area, they gave her water and food in the foyer and allowed her to stay there while we ate. The food is very good but it is the owners who really make this... More

While staying there during my AT thru-hike, I was having a beer, when the bartender referred to a person, as a "negro." After my look of surprise, he repeated it for good measure. Good job hiring a racist, to serve people. The place is falling apart, and will soon be condemned. As long as they tolerate racism, it's not worth... More

It is more hyped than it should be, but the cost of beer makes it forgettable quickly, allowing you to just sit back and enjoy. DO NOT DRINK TOO MUCH THAT YOU CONSIDER STAYING! The food was honestly forgettable. If you just walked 1100 miles, sure, eat up, but the rest of the world may consider other options.

Thru hiking the AT, stopped in the Doyle for a night. The owner's Pat and Vicky are salt of the earth. Great food, good rates, kind people.
