a small inn and eatery steeped in history. Housing for confederate officers during the Gettysburg campaign. Good food and drink. A historic and paranormal stop.

We arrived there on July 3 only to find a small note on the front door indicating that they were closed until July 5. How can you close during the 155th anniversary of the battle!?

A simple phone call would have prevented this situation. Many events in town that take place during prime dinner hours and a family issue took place that morning. Very sorry.

Thank for the review. The web-site clearly explains that key pick-up is 11am-1pm Sunday's and Monday's. When you didn't arrive or ask for a later check-in which we do on a regular basis. we assumed you had a change of plans and we are not...More

Thanks Eli. You made a comment about the food with dining. Hnmm. Good for trip advisor letting people post exagerated reviews. I am quite certain that the other side of the story is not the same.

Description
Currently serving as a Bed and Breakfast with a fine dining restaurant,The Cashtown Inn was built circa 1797 and functioned as the first stage coach stop west of Gettysburg along the newly constructed Chambersburg Turnpike. During the Gettysburg campaign of 1863, the Inn served as Confederate Headquarters for General A.P. Hill while 22,000 men of his Third Corp camped throughout town.Following the battle,General John Imboden used the Inn to organize the evacuation of the wounded Confederate troops from the area.Historians claim that more Confederate Generals passed through the front door of The Cashtown Inn than any other building north of Richmond Virginia. In 2008 The Cashtown Inn became the only Gettysburg area location to be featured on the Sci-Fi Channel's original series Ghost hunters. The TAPS team investigated the Inn for their season 4 episode entitled the Fear Cage. The Inn is also featured in two paintings Serious Work Ahead by Dale Gallon and Distant Thunder by Mort Kunsler.
