A friend wanted to try this because she had not been there for years and it was renovated. There is a large bar area and it is very bright and very clean. There are booths forming almost an L shape outside of the bar area. The server was friendly and good but the menu does not deliver. The portions are... More

Nice place with a lot of history behind it. I heard it was renovated a few years back and it shows. Atmosphere is of a friendly tavern and not trying to be an upscale environment. Staff from host and hostess to wait and bus staff were, to say the least, extremely friendly. Food was what you may expect from an... More

Having so much history going back to the days of the American Revolution, I had to try it and it was fantastic. They make these burgers with a blend of ground beef and spices that it is unique yet not strange.. Good prices and good selection of wine and beer. Good service as well. Great Lunch!!!

My husband and I went there for a light dinner and there were many options from which to choose. We both had soup and the broccoli cheese quiche. I had the French onion soup and my husband had the black bean one. Both were delicious and not too salty. Their full entree selections looked very good as well. The building... More

My husband and I are regular customers at the Broad Axe. Service and food are excellent. I love their beef fajitas. They also have a large selection of beers and wines.

Very attractive place next to a local icon so they have a tall order to compete. Bar is a bit choppy so not real bar friendly. Also has dining rooms up and down but avoid upstairs at all costs. Decent dinner menu but it's more fun next store.

My wife's mother's 90th Birthday Celebration was held here. The service and food were excellent. Very friendly staff and owner. After the brunch, eight of us went downstairs to the bar to watch the Eagles play. Great beer menu with a lot to choose from. I tried the Philly cheese steak egg roll and it was delicious. We will definitely... More

We had drinks at the bar as we got there early and our server was delightful. The inn is very rustic and had a nice vibe. The bathrooms were immaculate. Then it was downhill. We had a very nice waiter who promptly took our orders. Many of us ordered soup- mainly gazpacho. It was at least 30 minutes and prompts,... More

The Broad Axe has a very nice selection of craft beers, and if that's your thing you'll love it. The food however leaves a lot to be desired. I had the grilled Reuben sandwich, and it was beyond dry. Thankfully they had good beer to wash it down. My wife had a Margherita flatbread, and it was likely the worst... More

The noise level here is overwhelming. I left before coffee and desert because I literally felt like my ears were going to start to bleed. There is a large draft beer selection, but in the Spring season it is mostly light, pale beers with "notes of floral," "citrus," or "hint of bubblegum" (Really? A beer with "hint of bubblegum?") Most... More

Description
Dating back to 1681, The Broad Axe Tavern is one of America's oldest taverns. Reopened in May of 2009 after undergone a multi-million dollar renovation. We welcome you to come in to see and enjoy this historic land mark. The pointed stone, hardwood and slate tiled floors give the restaurant its old world charm. Its leather booths, wood tables and iron fixtures also give it a casual elegance. The menu is a eclectic mix of small plates for grazing, grilled pizzas, large plates and tavern sandwiches. Guest favorites include Steamed Mussels, Seafood Chowder and Crab Cakes, NY Strip Steak and our Award-Winning BBQ Ribs. A great place to meet and greet with sixteen craft and imported beers on tap, over 175 bottled beers from around the world for your enjoyment. Or try a bottle of wine from our 21 Club, 38 Special list. We also have high end Premium wines or one of our great wines by the glass. Daily drink specials include happy hour 5-7pm.
