Tad's has been around for a long time, and the menu hasn't changed. This is a good thing! When you think comfort food- think Tad's. Their chicken and dumplings will warm your soul to its core and make your stomach dance with joy.

Tad's has great food and drink with an attentive waitstaff. The river view is beautiful if you get there early enough to get a table there.

First off, it's like you've stepped back in time - it reminds me of what restaurants must of looked like in the 1930's/1940's. They have kept much of the original decor and it's really awesome inside. One whole wall opens up the river. Then the food comes - amazing! They bring out relish trays (I hadn't heard that term since... More

Such delicious food here! The only down fall is the parking is sometimes hard to find! Most of the time it is busy but worth the wait.

Nice, unpretentious place. Dumplings were a revelation (to me at least) Good availability of very reasonable seafood.

Guess all God's creatures have to eat; but I grew up in Gresham and Tad's is a place I've visited many times... but I have never seen sea lions this far up the Sandy River and at least one HUGE one was apparently having dinner - dragging beautiful steelhead (?) to the surface and thrashing them to death before eating... Locals start lining up before the doors open. We talked to a couple that had driven from Washington just for dinner. Warm comfort food after a day of exploring the Columbia River Gorge.

Go to Tad's as often as possible. The best smoked salmon I have ever tasted. I am particular to the smoked salmon platter and have bought the salmon by the pound many times to take home to Hood River.

Thank Gary M
