This is by far my most favorite restaurant in Salem. The food is truly delightful and delicious. The ever changing menu provides an exciting experience every time we visit Bernard and his Crooked House Bistro.

Food, admittedly one of the more spendier places in Salem, is always good value for money spent. Always feel warm and welcome.

Spent a lovely evening with my family. Decidedly French food, paired with wine suggested by the host/owner/chef. The restaurant is somewhat difficult to find in the dark , but definitely worth the effort. Cozy and relaxing atmosphere ( not suitable for small children). Decor and music are very nice and are nicely complemented by the owner' conversation. You will be... More

This tiny treasure seats about 30, has reasonably priced French and Oregon wines that Bernard will happily pair with his ever-changing menu built from farm fresh ingredients including local lamb, diverse seafood, duck, some game meat, and seasonal specials. He'll gladly create vegan or vegetarian too. If you are unable to make a choice, or want a decadent meal, simply... More

This quaint little bistro never disappoints us. The changing menu always has dependably great flavors and meats are always prepared exquisitely. The house made baguettes are tasty too. The owner/chef is French. If you enjoy wine, be sure and ask him for a wine pairing suggestion. He is always spot on.

I've eaten here twice on trips to Salem and love it! Great wine list. Chef Bernard who is also the owner is very friendly and accommodating. My wife wanted a vegetarian meal and he made something up that she loved and wasn't just the usual pasta and sauce that most places come up with. Instead delicious vegetables and much more.... More

To start with the good, the service was friendly, prompt and courteous. We felt the food was overpriced tho. Each coarse is priced separately and high. Including a small basket of bread and butter for $2.50, not included as in most restaurants. The bread was good - French baguette . The menu is apparently French Cuisine, which neither of our... After many months of passing by this place, my husband and I decided to make reservations here for dinner. We both loved the interior, it was very cute and cozy and had an inviting atmosphere to it. We ordered the escargot to start and were not disappointed, they were delicious! We made use of the bread served with the escargot... More

Yes, it is funky. Yes, it is tiny. Yes, it is a strange location. Yes, it is expensive. AND YES, it is the best food I've had in a Salem restaurant in memory. It is all about the owner/chef and his expertise with quality, fresh food. Okay, he's French, I expect good food. He delivers.

A very small menu that keeps the quality at it's highest form. Most all of the ingredients are local and fresh. The owner Bernard is on the floor most of the time and guides you perfectly with outstanding wine pairings for his excellent slow cooked entrees. My wife always wants to dine where you can enjoy food you will not... More
