With only one night in Portland, our dinner choice had to be special. As it happens, we truly lucked out. Piattino is most amazing— a gem of an Italian restaurant making great use of the seasonal local ingredients! Cozy, wood burning fireplace on the inside...and Covid-safe, covered space on the outside. The service was outstanding. We couldn’t decide on the wine, so the server brought us several tastings of the wines we were interested in. Lovely. For the food, we decided to graze. The apps, salads, soups were outstanding! The Asparagi Grigliati and black kale salad tasted as if it was picked from the garden that very day. As we don’t eat meat, the restaurant was happy to substitute the Cana de Oveja cheese ( a wonderful find) for the prosciutto di Parma. So very accommodating! Another spectacular dish was the polenta w wild mushrooms. This dish was accented by a tomato purée and pistachio pesto. The sweet nutty flavor of pistachio enhanced the green beauty of the pesto. Scrumptious!
The food is fantastic- check. The customer service— stellar! I left my iPhone at the restaurant. The owners found it and contacted my husband to let us know we could pick it up when the restaurant opens at 5pm. One problem, I was on a plane bound for NYC. When we landed, we called the restaurant to tell them that we wouldn’t be able to pick up the phone. The owner was nonplussed! The next day he sent me my iPhone by 2-day Priority Mail. My iPhone and I were happily reunited. And don’t you know the owner called to make sure I received my phone! Amazing!
