I've visited the Rheinlander in the past, but this was the first time on a major holiday. We had reservations, and were seated promptly with our large group. I had read reviews of being seated late, so this was a great start! Once we were seated, and looked over the menu, we noticed that the menu was limited for the... More

Yes, they will be closing the end of 2016. I'm glad my visit to Portland happened before that. This is a great place to eat, be happy, and leave having had a delightful evening. The beer selection is excellent, the menu includes so many wonderful thing (even for the lighter appetite), and the fact that the accordion player and our... More

I am not sure if happy hour food is a good indicator of dining food, but the happy hour menu was full of fatty foods. I went there for the fondue which ended up being one clump of cheese.

News and Facebook said this long time classic German restaurant will be closing in early 2017; so my friend and I decided to visit and were happy that we did. A beer tasting flight was suggested by our waitress(working her 36th year there) and was wonderful to split, 3 4oz glasses of different seasonal beers and 1 of hard cider... More

Why do I come here? it's the selection of beers and it's because my friend we celebrate his B-day party here...well I never actually had a real German food before so in term of how authentic it is, I can't pass judgment but in my americanized taste I would say the food is decent to good...Their chicken Schnitzel is good... We just spent a lovely evening at this restaurant. We loved the theming inside the restaurant, so adorable! There was also a gentleman playing the accordion and another gentleman who would occasionally sing. We absolutely loved that! We chatted with the accordion player for a while. What a nice guy, and very talented too! Our waitress was also very nice.... More

We had eaten here several years ago and the German Wiener Schnitzel was excellent then and when our friends asked where we wanted to eat, I eagerly voted to return here again. We lived in Germany for three years and have vacationed there several times in the last 10 years as well. We have never had a tasteless Schnitzel at... More

We celebrated my mom's 80th birthday here and what a fun time we had! My family has been coming here for special occasions for 40 years and the food, service, and music are always amazing. You must have the fondue and lentil soup! Truly a great experience for the young and old alike. The accordion player sang a Frozen song... More

Found this restaurant some years back and we cannot make a trip to Portland without going here at least once. The food is authentic and very good. The amount of food you receive and the price are reasonable. The atmosphere and wait staff are fantastic!
