We enjoyed an excellent dinner-- grilled ruby trout and grilled local lamb shoulder chop-- cooked perfectly. The endive salad with pear and chorizo was delicious as was the crusty bread with chimichurri. We also loved the dessert we ordered -- brown butter hazelnut tart with honey camomile ice cream and honey comb candy. The service was excellent.

. . . and was it worth the trip!! We read an article in Better Homes and Gardens and knew we had to buy this couples' cookbook since we and our friends love to cook on wood. After enjoying several dishes over the summer, we just had to go to this restaurant. We contacted the restaurant by email and an... More

We loved this place. We were there on a Thursday night and it was packed. The cocktails were delicious. They delivered a complimentary cauliflower soup that was wonderful. We tried many menu items and loved them all. My daughter enjoyed the chowder with bone marrow. The empanada was very flavorful. We had planned a light dinner, but ended up ordering... More

Reservations are required well in advance (and required a credit card), we made ours 2 months out. Our party of 6 arrived and were seated immediately. The atmosphere was lively with people chatting, eating, and drinking - having a good time. Server was knowledgeable and very helpful on how to order, portion sizes etc. Based on the hype for Ox... I came to Ox for their clam chowder, which Willamette Week brands as one of Portland's 12 "Food Wonders." I've eaten a lot of chowder over the years but never had it served with clams in the shell and with a piece of bone split to expose its marrow. The results were delicious. Very tasty. I also ordered some meaty... More

Six us ate dined at Ox on a Saturday evening and enjoyed the experience. We had a secluded table near the fire which was perfect and our server was outstanding. The thing that kept this from being a 5star review was the food wasn't quite at that level. My lamb shoulder and my wife's ribeye were seasoned well but below... More

Four of us shared all of the plates which can be done easily, with the possible exception of the clam chowder which would be better for 2. However we over-ordered to be able to try more of the sides so had more than enough food. We also had the baked ricotta with mushrooms and the foie gras terrine with pear--our... More

I heard an OPB story about new cool Portland restaurants. OX was featured. The story caught my interest so off I went to OX... I won't return. Was seated at a rectangle table too large for an intimate conversation. The one page menu was given to me on a HUGE clipboard. WTF am I supposed to do with that!?! I... More

Don't let the title of this review mislead you, because the food was definitely the highlight of the night. And what do people go to restaurants for? To experience something that they most likely can't create themselves at home. My friend called in that night when we decided on where to go and asked if we could get reservations for... More

Better than any review could state; we've been many steak houses east and west coast, Ox is by far the best, sorry Maestros, Morton's et all. From the first presentation of the famous bone morrow served with clams and chowder, I instantly ordered another. We ordered the 16 oz Ribeye, it came cut diagonally exposing and excellent Med rare steak... More
