Exceptional, unique Mexican cuisine with top notch service. We had a few special requests that were met without hesitation. The meal may be a bit pricey, but certainly worth it. Highly recommend.

Service was great, atmosphere was great, food was amazing! Best restaurant food I have had in a long time. They use fresh ingredients and it shows. They made fresh guacamole right at the table! So good! Got a personal goodbye on our way out. A...little more expensive than typical Mexican, but so much better! Worth every penny. We will definitely be back!More

Delicious food. Good service. My pulled pork in mango 7 peppers mole sauce is not to be missed. Even the beans were great. The menu is larger than expected so I want to return to try some other dishes. Many sound good. Only one restroom...and without paper towels (even after asking).More

2 beers, small combo, and a burrito for $32.00. We ate outside on the cute street side patio. The male server (owner?) threw down the menus and walked away without a word. We waited, asked for water twice. Another server appeared we asked for water...and what was on tap. I’ve eaten Mexican in Madras several times. Large Mexican population. But this was not very authentic. Sort of Taco Bell-ish, since you asked. Meh Mexican food with off-putting service. There are many Mexican restaurants in this town. They will welcome you with true hospitality and real chili.More

Excellent food with fast friendly service. A gem of a restaurant in the middle of Oregon. Multiple vegetarian options that are unusual but delicious. Tableside guacamole that was excellent.

My husband and I both LOVED our dinner at Rio. Their slow cooked pork with mole and mole verde entrees were incredible! The man who waited on us, also cooked our meals and they were fabulous. There's a reason why they have such high ratings....The presentation, the quality and the food speaks for itself! If you're in Madras and love authentic fabulous cuisine, this is your spot!More

My wife and I thought we’d try something different in the way of Latin food. Boy did we make mistake. The margarita was blah and the chili rellenos were awful. To make matters worse we had to wait 40 minutes for our food! And to...add insult to injury the bill cam to $60. For Mexican food? You’ve got to be kidding. Outrageous.More

My husband and I each had one of their slow-cooked pork dishes. Both were delicious and served quickly by a very friendly waiter. We will be back when we pass through Madras!

We stopped on the way through Madras. The food was first class. We ordered the fish taco and enchilada/chimi combo. Both were delicious. Be sure to order the guacamole as well- it’s prepared at the table. Everything was very fresh and full of flavor. Great...service as well. Hopefully we’re driving through again sometime- we would definitely stop again.More

This is sort of a casual place, almost a dive (everyone was on the patio on account of Covid-19). My wife ordered vegetarian enchiladas and I ordered carne asada. The chips & salsa were good. The veggie enchiladas were covered in a spinach cream sauce....She said they were good, but heavy in the corn 🌽 and light on tomatoes and zucchini. The carne asada was OK, but not prepared properly. The cut of beef is supposed to be low quality, but is also supposed to be marinated sufficiently long so that it becomes tender and tasty. In this case, it was neither tender nor tasty. Service was a little slow, but I suppose it can be attributed to a having a full house at prime time on a Friday night. Drinking water, with tax and tip, it was $39.More

Excellent shrimp with onions in a very tasty sauce. Chicken and chorizo tacos were the best I have ever tasted. Huge servings of both. House margarita was not special. Ordered the top one on the menu, which was 11.95, and very good. Servers did not...seemed trained to give great service. There always seemed some confusion about who was to help us, and they were not very busy. Waited a while for meal, but well worth the wait.More

tried to have dinner there for our anniversary two friday nights ago. ate there in the past and did have some of the best mexican food in oregon. new owners-it is aall over. Ordered 2 margaritas without salt on the rim. Server appeared to be...a confused disinterested teenage boy. Twenty minutes later drinks appear with salt. One of the drinks didn't taste like it had any tequila in it. Tried to order their signature tableside guacamole-informed that they had no avocados. There is a thriftway market 2 blocks away. No avocado on a friday night at 6pm? At thirty minutes still no food. People at table next to us complaining about not receiving their dinners. Other patrons complaining. At 35 minutes our son;s plain cheese quesadilla, rice , no beans, arrives. Beans on the plate and it was a gloopy mess with melted cheese on the outside. Took one look at that and told our server we were leaving, Offered to pay for our drinks but owner came out and wouldn't take any money (correct thing to do). He said "we are only human and have only been here 2 months." If they can't make a plain simple dish that takes 5 minutes prep i hate to think what our more complex dishes would've looked like. Sad to write this but be forewarned that this is in no way the superb place it once was-it is a disaster. 50 minutes and no main dishes in a half full restaurant.More

Nice people providing terrific Mexican food...not only prepared with good ingredients and presented with class but with a friendly welcoming manner. Guacamole is prepared at table-side, seafood is tasty, mole out of thus world. We were so glad to see they resurfaced after the pandemic...and hopefully will survive and thrive. This restaurant is a must stop in Madras.More

I'm Mexican-American and I can't say enough about the "gourmet" quality of the food at this small rural restaurant. Terrific, diverse menu choices, wonderful regional sauces and touches, fresh guacamole made in view at your table, most items entirely gluten-free (they are knowledgeable about that),...good vegetarian choices too, courteous and prompt service. A true find. We live about 3 hours away and make a point of going to Rio every time we are driving anywhere in the region near it.More
