This place gets a lot of passing families, as it is on one major route by Mt. Hood. It also seems to be very popular with the locals. It seems to be the lodge for the local Lion's Club. The staff are very friendly and were working hard when we were there on a Sunday at noon. The place was... More

We love this hometown restaurant. I can get breakfast at any time we're there. Nice selection of food. Clean. Cute decor. Great staff and super owner. Can't go wrong, trust me.

Too much food! Servings are huge. Quality is average to good. It’s just too much food to enjoy. It is definitely a “doggy bag” establishment.

In the 1990s, we stopped here several times and were happy with the food. After camping on Santiam Pass overnight, we decided a hot breakfast would be good. We were going through Madras, OR on our way north. We arrived about 7am and were waited on by the owner. I ordered a ham omelet and hash browns, my wife pancakes... More

Stopped in for breakfast meeting this morning, food dependably above average, eaten at quite a few Black Bears, and this is the best. Portions are large with good quality and good service. Fish Tacos and Pot Roast are both great choices for lunch or dinner.

It's a good place for having coffee and desserts but surelly the most impressive thing are the milkshakes.

Black Bear Diner has good food, fast service and huge portions. They serve breakfast 24 hours a day. We stopped by at dinner time, our first time eating there. I had a California Omelette. Husband had Sausage and Eggs with biscuits and gravy. The Biscuits were huge. He ordered two but one would have been plenty. He couldn't eat it... More

So very friendly and helpful with deciding from the menu. Cold winter day, snow flurries outside, warm and cozy inside. Had a hamburger, very tasty.
