Went here to try the salmon and avocado rolls with Miso soup. Sat at the counter to watch them make everyone's lunch. The atmosphere is warm and staff very friendly. I loved the avocado rolls get 8. ALso the miso was not salty and enjoy less salt soy sauce.

Great rolls, I wish I had time and room to try them all. One of the best meals I've had in Hood River.

We ate at Sushi Okalani twice on a recent visit to Hood River. Both times and food and service were excellent. On one of the nights we had to wait for a table and they gave us complementary edamame in the waiting area. Try the hand rolls - green eggs and ham was delicious. Great kids menu too.

I went to Sushi Okalani the other night with a close friend. At first glance, the awkward little out door hallway to the entrance gave me bad feelings, but then as soon as we got in everything changed. We were instantly greeted with warm welcomes and were placed at small but nice table. The sushi chefs are right in the... More

We arrived early, and got the last available table! Extensive menu and everything was beautifully prepared and delicious. Nice local art display, too!

Hadnt been back here for many years ..i remembered good food and a long wait. The wait hasnt changed much but the food is better than i remembered...by far! We ordered the edamame but we had to..its the law in sushi restaurants...followed by an assortment of typical sushi restaurant rolls. The surprises came in the form of the specials..unique rolls... Really good sushi here, and at very reasonable prices. We 3 diners had 7 different items, including salads, sushi, ceviche, and tempura, and our bill was only $55. We have paid much more for much less at other sushi spots.

The wait for us was over 30 minutes, but they offer drinks and free edamame as you wait and you can even walk next door to Celilo and enjoy a drink in their bar as you wait (Celilo has great cocktails and wine). When we finally were seated, we were pretty crowded at the bar but it was fun to... More

We live in Seattle and I've eaten a lot of sushi in a lot of places but I've never had better salmon sushi in my life. I bit it with my lips it was that tender. BEST.

Sushi Okalani is a unique dining experience, nestled away down some steps in a low key setting, offering top quality oriental cuisine. A great range of food and drinks, knowledgable staff and cute 10-person "hideaway" dining rooms wi Japanese style screens, this is a must-do if you're ever in down town Hood River.
