This is my go to place. I am just happy that so many local restaurants survived the covid down time. The Point pivoted to pickup and take out and came through it and returned to normal business while some others did not. The employees hustle...to keep up with what an efficient operation should be. Having said that I enjoy the food and the experience and need I mention the cold beer.More

From the other reviews, it sounds like we drew the short straw when it came to getting a server because I politely asked for condiments that are included with sandwiches at most places when the guy brought our meal and he never brought them. He...never came back to our table to see how things were until we finished eating and he couldn't have been that busy because he had time to stop and chat with customers at another table when he passed through the dining room. We ate at Sweet Tea Express the following day and enjoyed good food and great service. Not only were condiments and extra napkins on the table, but our server made sure everything was okay after bringing our meal, a sure sign of taking pride in one's service.More
Greetings, JoeKati. Yes, you caught us on a bad day. When inside dining is shut down, we cannot maintain a full staff. When we are, once again, allowed to have indoor dining, many of our previous employees are obligated elsewhere and cannot return. So, we...More

We went to Central Point specifically to visit a small cafe nearby which was closed that day. We had seen the Point in passing and noted its #1 ranking in town so thought we would give it a try. First impression is that it is...a cool little pub with exposed brick interiors and a warm pub like feel. They have a small patio out back but it was rather more industrial than garden like so we opted to sit inside since it was getting hot anyway. Recognizing that this might not be a typical experience due to the recent re-opening due to COVID our expectations were not lofty. However, the service was prompt and friendly despite the need for staff masks (thanks for wearing!). The staff seemed to be upbeat and was very responsive. I ordered a French Dip which was good but not remarkable in any way. My wife ordered the caprese sandwich on ciabatta with chicken. When her sandwich arrived it was absent any cheese and had only a bland tomato and piece of grilled chicken. When we pointed out to the waiter that a caprese sandwich (or salad) has FRESH mozzarella as a key element, he was very apologetic and corrected the order with the kitchen. The cook came out and apologized as well for the oversight. However, when the replacement arrived it was simply melted mozzarella pizza cheese and a badly heat-shriveled piece of basil on the same chicken and tomato bun. To be fair the menu said melted mozarella but I had assumed it would be the correct type not just a pub melt. When I explained that a caprese sandwich is supposed to have fresh mozzarella not melted shredded pizza cheese the waiter simply responded “it’s pub food.” I have to agree. That’s all it was….average pub food, certainly not what I expected from the #1 rated spot in town. No adjustment offered on the final tab. If you want a beer on a hot summer day this looks like a great spot. If you’re looking for something nice for lunch you may want to explore another small café in town.More
Hi, Cascades Ranger. Sorry it took me so long to respond to your helpful review. As you know, the Covid-19 situation created a whole new paradigm for the restaurant industry. We have been adapting as well. Dealing with supply chain interruptions and trying to get...More
We pass through the Southern Oregon area quite frequently and have tried several lunch spots in the valley. We chose The Point this time because of it's ranking on TripAdvisor and the number of 4 and 5-star reviews. We arrived right at their opening time,...were promptly seated (as were other parties who arrived at the same time) and given menus and glasses of water very quickly. My wife ordered a French Dip and remarked how tender and tasty the roast beef was. Her only "complaint" was she couldn't finish all the sandwich. I ordered the Bleu Burger and was asked how I like the burger patty cooked. This is important to me as it shows the staff is knowledgeable about diner's different tastes and preferences. The burger was very good, with an enormous serving of fries. The decor is historical, not over-done beer advertising as is the case in too many pubs. Temperature in the dining area was a bit cool, but I get it - winter day, old building and they just opened. Temps would probably be fine later in the day. Service was friendly and drinks were refilled as needed. We didn't need to ask for anything.More
