This cafe was the only one open after 3.30 in Swansea as we were passing through and we were recommended it by the ladies in Vinnies up the road. It turned out to be a surprise hit with great coffee, excellent green tea (I do...More

The range of fare offered here is amazing. They don't just have a menu, they have several walls of menu, ranging from fish to salads to burgers to curries to desserts. I chose old fashioned fish and chips, takeaway so the meal could be enjoyed...More

Very tasty breakfast with thick bacon and eggs poached to our liking. Exceptional service and the whole place looks exceptionally clean.

So friendly and knowledgeable. We stopped for a coffee and ice cream but it looks like a lovely place to eat a meal. The view is amazing too!

Friendly owner and waitress. Anxious to accommodate any dietary needs. Tasty meal but a bit of a wait which was surprising as we were the only dining customers.

This dinner was a lovely surprise. Everytime we asked someone about this place, they would say, "Eh, it's interesting, right?" This response didnt exactly build confidence, but the experience was LOVELY. They grow and serve their own vegetables. We had the fried local catch that...More

This bright restaurant is highly recommended for its friendly atmosphere and relaxed atmosphere. By the time we left we felt like old friends. The choices on the menu are extensive and varied. Our choices were all enjoyed by us and will certainly visit again.

Just off the main road and close to the beach, this weirdly-named cafe is definitely worth a visit. The owners are committed to fresh, local, sustainable, fairtrade, natural ingredients. Even the packaging for takeaways is biodegradable. Interesting and comprehensive menu, plenty of vegetarian choices but...More

Thank you for your response to your dining experience at The Ugly Duck Out. You have a very clear understanding of what we are achieving in our eating house. As you say, "fresh, local, sustainable, fairtrade and natural". Yes, the name is a bit weird,...More

The interior of this cafe had a dreadful odour of stale cooking oil, so we chose to sit for lunch in the courtyard, which was very pleasant on a warm, sunny autumn day. The waitress (owner?) was helpful in discussing the menu options. The menu...More

Thank you for writing your review. I have taken some time to respond as I needed to talk to all staff involved on that day and the other regular guests. On the day you visited I was not here due to a short notice appointment...More

Description
After 11 1/2 years The Ugly Duck Out has CLOSED. This cheerful diner catered for dietary requirements and for those that wished to reduce their environmental footprint. The "ecotarian" menu promoted the benefits of this style of dining, exploring the link between the food we eat and its source. Ethically and environmentally sustainable produce was the foundation for honest, award winning preparations that were in harmony with the season. Gluten-free, low FODMAP and vegetarian diets were easily catered for. Our onsite produce garden ensured fresh produce and the kids play room was fun for both children and parents. The Ugly Duck Out was an awesome experience.
