Walk in maybe 20 minuets before afternoon closing time not the best idea. The menu was superb plenty to chose from, there was four of us and each picked differently, that was a good idea. We sat and waited expecting it to take a little...More

We were told we should book the restaurant because it would be busy. It wasn't because they turn over diners with poor food. We ordered a dozen fresh oysters ($30) which were good, but our mains of sea scallops in a curry sauce ($32) and...More

We could have eaten here every day! Lovely crispy chips in beer batter, perfectly cooked prawns, stripy trumpeter & calamari. 5yo loved it! Wish we could have got in for dinner & lobster.

Don’t even go there!! We made a booking in the restaurant on a Tuesday night at 7.30pm. When we arrived we were shown to our seat, and within about 2 minutes we ordered our drinks and they arrived swiftly. And within 5 minutes we were...More

This place sells fresh seafood, which is one of the economic staples for Stanley. However, we ordered a seafood platter. The platter cost $120 - it was large but the servings were not all that big, and some of them were meats, not seafood. This...More

I've been coming to the NW of Tassie for many years and I always make a point of coming to Hursey Seafoods for the quality of their fish and chips and I wasn't disappointed on this revisit. The place has had a makeover since my...More

Pub grub served in an atmosphere not unlike an RSL or League’s Club. Two of the most iconic of Tassie’s produce, the Southern Rock Crayfish and Cape Grimm beef slapped on a plate without any finesse or care. Don’t get me wrong the steak and...More

Just got a takeaway while on our stanley stay. Service was poor. Got ripped into because we asked if we could change the fish included in the seafood pack to flat head. She first replied no and then I asked if we could pay extra...More

Have been looking forward to trying crayfish in Tasmania, where it is abundant and fresh. Prices seemed excessive at $320 for a full large cray so we tried something else . Husband opted for a curried crayfish for entree and I had the seafood chowder....More

This fish shop is absolutely lovely, and the ingredients are fresh and flavoursome. Great for young and old, even the fussiest of eaters.

Yeah it was unusual. Sorry I have taken so long to respond. I don't know that we would go back unless reviews became more consistent

Hursey Seafoods, based in Stanley Tasmania, is a major catcher of the renown Southern Rock Lobster (crayfish). Patrons can purchase a range of seafoods; wholesale, takeaway or dine-in for lunch or tea. In 1974 James Snr and Valerie Hursey relocated from Dover (Sth East Tasmania) to Stanley (Nth West Tasmania). In 1987, to complement a growing company fishing fleet, a commercial factory/takaway/dine in premises was established as a memorium to James Snr and Valerie's son, Patrick, who was lost at sea attempting to rescue an adventurer, rowing across Bass Strait. In June 2015, the property was extensively renovated and now seats 100 diners, overlooking the bay and nestled under the Stanley Nut. Hursey Seafoods' fleet of nine vessels catches Southern Rock Lobster, Giant Crab, Stipey Trumpeter, Gummy Shark, flathead and other local reef fish. Lobster is retained live in sea tanks on premises, which ensures supply all year and provides consumers with the very best taste. Hursey Seafoods is open every day, apart from Christmas, for lunch and dinner. Takeaway open: 11.00 AM to 7.00 PM Sun - Thu, 11.00 PM to 7.30 PM Fri & Sat Restaurant open: 12.00 PM to 2.30 PM (seated by) & 5.30 PM to 8.00 PM (seated by)
