We recently stayed at this hotel and ate in the Highland Restaurant one evening. We were glad we booked as the restaurant was full. The restaurant had a roaring open fire which added to the ambience and it overlooked the lake which was lit at night. A good tip would be to request a window seat when booking. The food... More

Staying at Peppers, so we decided to give the premium restaurant a try. Told that we were booked in for a window table, but that didn't happen. Food was good, a little overpriced, but understandable given the location. However the service was patchy, albeit well intentioned. Needs to try a little bit harder.

We shared a beef tartar entree and it was delicious, just the right combination of flavors. My wife loved her trout and almost licked the plate. I had the venison dish and it was perfectly cooked and although I felt full I didn't feel stuffed. the sauces were also to-notch. "out of the park"

Dinner for four with very average food and service. They could only seat us at 5.30pm despite the appearance of plenty of room. Additionally the night before they would not seat us at all due again to being full, again with 50% of the restaurant empty. As we were staying we checked an hour later and the same message with... We ordered the steak, trout and salad. The food was good but for $110 it was way overpriced compared to other meals we enjoyed in Tasmania. Service was friendly but staff seemed overworked by attending to a large tour group seated in the second have of the restaurant. We dined at Highland Restaurant on our first night and cancelled our... More

Definitely imagenitive and a great way to sample fabulous meals of local produce, including terrific Triut and Venison and Walkaby if your taste runs to it. Good portions and relaxed service in a nice venue - with a sensational wine list highlighting wonderful Tasmanian wines. But pricey - a glass of good local wine was $14-15 and mains average $40... My friend and I were staying at Peppers Lodge and had dinner at the Highland Restaurant. I had steak tartare to start followed by the fillet and the chocolate tart with raspberry ice cream for desert. The food was really good the room has a roaring fire and is very rustic which is a great foil for the food and... More

We had a great dinner and breakfast at the Highland Restaurant. We had Lamb ,salmon, smoked salmon and wime for dinner. All tasty! There's not many choices of breakfast buffet, but still enough for filling the stomach..haha. Nice restaurant.

We had an unexpectedly pleasant dinner and breakfast here while staying overnight. The hotel itself could probably do with a refresh very soon, but the food experience was really pretty good, especially given the relatively remote location. Service during both meals was attentive, quick and competent.

This proved to be arguably the nicest, fine-dining experience around Cradle Mountain. Our server was attentive, friendly, personable and knowledgeable. On offer was a high-quality, high-perceived-value, and high-priced menu. The Wagyu Beef steak was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious! The Wallaby, done two-ways was also very good, though a rather small portion size. The chocolate cake for dessert... More
