This was only open on the weekends so we took the opportunity to visit on a Sunday. It has lovely gardens which are beautifully manicured. There are also an alpaca and chickens. You can purchase jams etc. We had a couple of drinks and a...pastry. The pastries and the drink was good but the coffee tasted terrible. If the coffee was made well it would have made a difference.More

Hill End Estate was recommended to us by several locals as ‘the place for lunch’ and we were not disappointed – I must admit they had me at ‘famous pies’. From beginning to end we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The service was friendly and...prompt and even with COVID restrictions in place we were felt like we were having an old-fashioned dining experience. The lady who took our order called us by name and remembered it every time we spoke to her – that’s such a nice touch. (Pity I am unable to reciprocate the same respect towards her ☹) It was a little chilly when we arrived, so we sat indoors in the cosy and quaint dining room. We both had one of their delicious pies and salad and they lived up to their reputation. Of the 3 other tables near us all the diners were local people which says something. After a while we moved to a table outdoors to have coffee and cake – equally as delicious. Again, the table adjacent to us accommodated four locals all of whom were talking about how lucky they were to have such a great meeting place that also served great food. One of the entertaining moments related to the owners young dog which habitually got out of its large holding pen to come down to play with one of the guests dogs (which was old and tired and didn’t really want to play at all). The ambience was casual, friendly, and authentic. We did not want to intrude into other diners space and privacy but it appeared to us that there is a thriving arts community in Hill End and that, in my view, only bodes well for the future of any community. I am very happy to recommend Hill End Estate as a place to go, eat and just hang out and slow down for a while.More

I stopped here for lunch and had a delicious home made pie, coffee and a chocolate eclair to die for. There were more substantial offerings as well, but I wanted something a little quicker. Staff were very friendly and obliging and suggested I sit on...the homestead's balcony as seating a little limited due to Covid. My coffee was brought to me promptly and it was as good as anything I could find in Sydney's Inner West. The location is beautiful and I also met the owner's delightful and well behaved dog Mocha. Thanks for a great lunch and some doggie cuddles.More

A delightful cafe in grassy grounds full of flowers and vegetables. Home made pies are delicious and the mixed berry ice cream, made from their own produce is to die for.

Coffees, scones, wild berry ice cream, pies and pastries are all so good. Home made. One must try at least one of each and you won't be disappointed. The owners and staff are lonely and friendly. The views from outside the property is awesome. Kids...are kept entertained by the alpaca which come by the side of the property. Also has nice garden seating and overall nice and cosy little café. Food so good that we came here to dine at three occasions. Highly recommended whilst visiting Hill End.More

A cafe with the best home made pies in the area. Filling is nearly all meat. Coffee superb. And a menu to suit all. A beautiful garden surrounding you where you can pick berries and take home for $6 a kilo! They even put it...in their soft serve ice cream!More

Will definitely be back. The owners are so friendly and their products are delicious and well priced. Have passed by this little gem many times and haven’t called in. Well today we did and I kicked myself for not popping in earlier. Maybe the rude...guy at the general store should take some lessons in being hospitable and customer service skills from these lovely people.More

Bypass the store in town, and make sure you drop in here, just on the Mudgee side of town Perfect, friendly service. We all had pies and a drink, and the pies were some of the best we’ve had in a long time. Definitely will...be back here next time we’re in Hill End.More

Quite the best cafe ever. Yet again this place didn't disappoint. Hill End itself is a quaint restful place but it has this wonderful hidden gem Hill End Estate. Owned by Steve and Sue who are the nicest hosts and serve great coffee and a...great variety of cakes, pies, breakfast and "freshly" made scones I mean while we waited. So good we went back the next day. Hill End Estate, you really must go👍More
