Really packed Friday night so thought service would be awful especially as we were a large group. Got our table on time and had Ursula as waiting staff who was very friendly and helpful with the menu choices. Drinks and starters all came promptly and good quality. Same for main meals, all fresh and well cooked. Other waiting staff all... More

Called in here on our way to Watford from Sheffield. Unfortunately, after we were seated we waited for an eternity for anyone to come and take our order. Due to the wait I went to the bar, this was just as bad as the one person there was more interested in looking at a computer screen rather than serving either... More

Had a lunch where staff were attentive once I had queued for several minutes as others stood around obliviously. The food was a let down considering the price. The lamb shank was somewhat short on meat and nestled on a bed of a gloopy substance that was meant to be mashed potato. The overall flavouring was strange and unidentifiable, not... More

I decided to take my Mum for dinner as it has been a short while since we have been and to be honest we only ever get 'ok' service. We never walk out with a positive comment to make and I am afraid the same happened again. The staff always look so unhappy and avoid eye contact in case you... More

This whole meal was a complete shambles from beginning to end- and I really mean that! Things that they got wrong: 1. They showed us to the wrong table, and left before we realised that there were some people we didnt know sat on one end of it. So we had to go back to the start and ask again... More

This place used to be lovely, we used to frequent as it's out local. However, now the food is overpriced, the staff can be so rude, and the service in general is poor.

I arranged a family lunch at the Dun Cow following a pleasant previous visit, and once again I was very impressed. The venue itself if well located at the heart of the village, with ample parking. Inside they've done a very good job of fitting a modern restaurant into an old building, and maintained a good amount of character. We... More

Great choice of wines, spirits and soft drinks but food always a bit disappointing. Good atmosphere and service.

We stopped for lunch on the off chance and we were very pleased with our choice. The meals were very good and served promptly, despite the fact that the pub had been full. The service was excellent and very friendly. We hope to visit again soon. Highly recommended.

Large airy pub/restaurant offering traditional fayre - we had a duo of pate to share, duck salad and pie with cabbage and mash a (very small) side of fries and then sticky toffee pud with a coffee and pecan slice (small pud on their menu) with a couple of drinks for £50; charming waitress.
