Unfortunately I, and others, are sick to death of being spoken to in a rude manor by a certain individual serving behind the bar who can’t cope when he sees more than one customer at the bar. It isn’t not acceptable to have this service,...More

We called in hoping to have lunch. We were a large party, and had tried to book but were told we could only book for a maximum 10 people. When we arrived the pub was empty but we noticed that most of the tables had...More

We attended The Bat and Ball for its weekly quiz night. We are seasoned pub-quizzers, so we frequent many pubs across Surrey for this reason. We arrived early to get some food ahead of the quiz. It was very busy so it took a little...More

Discovered this gem on the way home from a trip away, wanting sustenance, this did not disappoint! The road down to the pub is horrific, one way and winding, but even that doesn’t detract. Food was tasty, we had sandwiches. Layout and decor is gorgeous....More

Visited with my son, the first time in 35 years, and it was still great. Good selection of real ales, good food and competitively prices. Well worth a visit.

Description
Your first time here you might find us a little difficult to find as the pub is down an un-adopted lane in the bottom of a valley, backing on to the Bourne stream. "The Bat" is a traditional country/village pub retaining the charm and atmosphere of what a pub should be. An open fire, panelled walls, nooks and crannies, hops hanging from the old oak beams, cricketing memorabilia and six shining brass hand pumps for ale. Outside there is a covered patio area with grape vines overhead and a large garden with flower borders, a children’s play structure and plenty of seating. There is also a large car park.We offer a good and wholesome selection of light snacks, main meals and a mouth watering selection of homemade puddings and desserts. All our food is cooked and prepared in house by our team.Crossing the generations ,the pub is a meeting place for all and you will be sure of a genuine welcome
