This was the first time we visited Indian Spice. We have visited umpteen indian restaurants over the past 20+years. This is the best restaurant for miles around. Salik and his team are very welcoming, great atmosphere, superb food and somewhere new to visit time and time again. We do not live in the area, but will not hesitate to travel the round journey of 20 miles for a decent curry in a fantastically clean, warm, hospitable restaurant. Thank you Indian Spice, you made our night

Best Indian around

I don't live in Uttoxeter anymore but whenever I visit, I always have a takeaway to warm up when I get home - 25 miles away. This is seriously the best Indian takeaway I have EVER tried and they always accommodate my requirements - madras hot on whatever meal. Seriously seriously good. Thanks to all at Indian Spice. They always produce excellent food. For those that have never tried, I would totally totally recommend 😁

We visited her for a dinner and was very pleased with our meal. The restaurant was very busy for a mid week dinner so I think it gets a good local and loyal following. We choose not to have poppa doms but went straight in for a sharer starter which was very nice. For mains I had the Lamb Tiika which was good but could have had a bit more on the sizzler to accompany the lamb other than sliced onions, Maybe some peppers etc. Chicken Korma looked great but felt the chicken meat could have been marinaded to give more flavour insted of just having the Korma sauce poured over it. In all we were very happy, great friendly service and will return.

Not the Indian food I'm used to

We came here for a meal on recommendation whilst out in Uttoxeter and were really quite disappointed. The positives were the setting, the friendly staff and the popadoms and chutneys. The negatives were the naan bread (very small and tasteless - we wouldn't have known it was a peshwari naan), the rice (very small portion) and above all the curries (one chicken madras and one chicken balti) which came in a sauce which had just had curry powder added to it as opposed to having been cooked in spices. The majority of my curry was just sauce apart from a huge piece of lemon which I unfortunately bit into thinking it was something else. We didn't complain because we don't like to make a fuss about things and we ate the food so we didn't want any money back. We felt that the prices were also expensive. We are very spoilt having our local as The Chandni in Draycott and this was a disappointing eating experience for us.

Tasteless, pointless- DO NOT GO

One of the worst curry I’ve had. I tried this place for the first time as a recommendation. We had a tandoori mixed grill main, it taste of old chicken and smelt funny (not of Asian spices as I’d expect). Lamb Buna that tasted bland as eating plain lamb. The cheese and garlic naan was dripping in garlic butter and was as thick as a Pizza Hut deep pan. I would never get a take away from here again. Also had to wait 45 mins to collect the food when they bought it out they then took it back in and bought it out again 15mins later. They specifically asked me to pay by cash too (not COVID friendly) I’d rather pay by card. Be warned the food is bland and not fresh.

Poor, so so poor!

On a positive note the restaurant is lovely..that’s it! As for the rest! Massively overpriced, tasteless, very small portions...need I say more. I had a chicken madras for a main, it tasted of curry powder in a consistency of sauce which can only be described like that of tomato soup!! It’s a pity because Staffordshire has some amazing Indian restaurants..sadly this is not one of them.

I dont usually leave reviews but i have comment on my experience of this restaurant tonight. We have tried Indian Spice several times before and always had a lovely meal or take away. This was the first time we have tried the take away here since the pandemic began and it was for a special occasion hence why we hesitantly thought we would try it. It took me 20 mins to get through and was advised 1 hour 10 min to collect. I was fine with this and understand things make take a little longer at the moment. Arrived at time advised, there were cars waiting everywhere I waited outside until it was safe to enter, looked to my left and the dining room was FULL of people waiting to collect take away, I felt very unsafe. I gave my name and after 5 mins of searching it turns out that someone else had taken our order! I was asked if i would wait, absolutely no chance as felt very unsafe. So after an hour and half from trying to order I am now on my way home with no food and feeling very uncomfortable aound their covid safe procedures. Will not be returning.

50% off, or not!

My regular Indian where myself and my family spend a lot of money on take aways over the weekends. My friends and I thought we would visit on a school night for the special offer of 50% off dinning in. Food was fab as always, the bill arrives and we pay thinking it was high for saying they had an offer on. As we chatted some more and worked it out we realised that we hadn't been given the discount. I showed the staff their advert on the front of the menu and were told that we couldn't have the discount as we needed to say before we ordered the meal. The advert does not say that you need to show or tell anyone before hand. I wouldn't be as bothered if I didn't use the place all of the time. The rating is on service and not the food!

The food was fine however the service was terrible. Sat for half an hour before the drinks order got taken and even then we had to ask. 55 mins later we still hadn't ordered our mains and actually debated leaving. They cleared glasses etc off tables in use and just piled them up on tables that were free instead of clearing properly. Most tables were having long waits on food yet the deliveries were flying out, they seemed to take priority. Wouldn't book to dine there again.

Great food, and excellent service

This restaurant is spotlessly clean, the food is full of flavour and served by polite friendly and attentive staff from the minute you arrive. We have had many takeaways from here but now we as a family enjoy the experience of eating in the restaurant. Keep up the good work from a very satisfied customer.

Shocking Service.

For our second consecutive visit the table service was shocking. Having only ordered poppadoms and main course after 1 hour and 15 minutes there was no sign of our main course being brought to the table. In fact there was a table of approximately 12 folks who has been waiting 2 hours for their food. Ours was obviously not appearing any time soon. The restaurant needs to decide it's priorities, on arrival it was full of folk waiting for takeaway meals. I would not advise anyone to visit.

Been coming here since it opened. It’s all very consistent. Staff lovely and friendly and food is of a very high standard. Highly recommend the Bhuna masala and chicken tikka garlic, 2 of my personal favourites and always enjoy it very much.

Owner must decide whether to be a Restaurant or a Takeaway

We booked a table for 8-people and were disappointed with the service. Good dining experience with nice ambiance and tasty food, when it finally arrived. However, the wait to place food order and to be served is unacceptable. Waiting over an hour for our food to be served (AFTER waiting 40-minutes to order the food !), we realised the priority was for Takeaway Orders ! There was a constant stream of people collecting their Takeaway Orders !! The Owners must decide whether they want to run a Restaurant or aTakeaway Service. We will not be going to the Restaurant again.

It's always like returning to good friends

As an ex restraunter myself, I know how difficult the five star hygiene rating is to achieve. This should be the benchmark from where all reviews for Indian Spice are founded. I have always found over the last six years that this establishment is dedicated to customer service, quality and very, very high standards! Although sometimes a victim of its own success being arguably the best Indian food in the area, comes at cost of being extremely vibrant and busy. Having said that, I have always found consistently very high quality meals and furthermore totally authentic and delicious! There is also always a genuine heart felt welcome both as you arrive or leave. Thank you Indian Spice

Why would you go here!!

We have tonight placed an order via user eats to this establishment. Upon realising we needed to order more, we attempted to add to the order. This wasn't possible as we understood the issue, so we called them to add onto the order.. The owner Saliq, point blank refused to attempt to tie these 2 orders together and when I drove down to the restaurant in an attempt to sort it, Saliq was rude and aggressive. He would not listen and made no attempt to help me, just shouted at me!! If the food hadn't have been paid for you wouldn't be getting our money He is clearly this way with his staff to as when they attempted to help me, I believe he told them to keep out of it!! Guess what Saliq, we will never use your restaurant again and when asked who to recommend, it will be The Ivory Cafe.. How you stay in business, I do not know, thankfully you have good staff that carry your poor leadership and hosting skills. We are a small town, and will be sharing our experience..

Hi Kelly, as you ordered from UberEATS we can’t just add stuff onto that order, you would have to order again with the items you forgot or alternatively you can place a new order to collect by calling us or coming in. You came in to collect the order which you placed for delivery, which at the time the driver was already here ready to drop off your order, the driver didn’t get paid and also his time was also wasted as you picked up the order which you also paid extra for as it was for delivery. Sorry for any confusion.
