Really genuinely characterful original interior, no makeovers here! A good and varying selection of real ales sold straight from the barrel. Pork pies and crisps but no food - a true and very busy drinkers pub. Check it out if you're visiting Burton.

Just a great little establishment if you are a beer or cider drinker. Not for the fashionable type but a fabulous selection of cask ale (light, full bodied, stout and more) and ciders if you have the staying power. Also serves pork pies if you require any sustenance before you head to the wonderful curry house next door. Live folk... More

Unspoilt by time what a beautiful little place, I'm so glad I found this place it serves some of the best real ales you will ever find in the comfortable old world surroundings. There is not many places left in the world like this and this is one of the best! 😀

This what all pubs should be like, a bit spit and sawdust, roaring open fires, outstanding selection of real ales . A MUST VISIT PUB WHEN YOU ARE IN BURTON

great choice of ales - my friend said it was good to see a joules pub. i had rhubarb cider in here - lovely tasted of real rhubarb rather than a synthetic taste that some have. good bar snacks in here too, a pasty was bought! very cosy good atmosphere and friendly staff.

This is a fantastic real ale pub. Barrels stacked up behind the bar adds to the authenticity of this place. People are friendly and the no nonsense but genuinely warm landlady really makes this place. Went on a Sunday afternoon, where they hold Acoustic Sunday events - saw an act by the name of Bruno Gallone, who was so impressive... More

I frequent this establishment on a regular basis as it has a wonderful range of beers and ciders that are priced reasonably. It is a cosy place for a quiet beer with friends or to listen to the folk musicians that attend on a Tuesday evening.

Really good beer here. Independent Cask beers in an atmospheric and homely pub full of character and friendly people. It's my home from home in Burton.
