This has the potential to be a lovely, quaint and charming B&B. However, there are several things we found lacking. No one around to greet us. When the manager did come she was not the most enthusiastic. The room, though cosy with a lovely four poster bed, needs updating. The shower tiles were moule ridden and again, just general maintenance... More

Dropped in for lunch - cold and unwelcoming - paint peeling from window frames, table not wiped properly (rings from beer glasses) lights that weren't switched on or didn't work lending the main dining area a darkness. Food OK - very hot - but a large amount of watercress on a plate does not constitute a 'watercress salad' and if... More

My wife and I spent a very pleasant evening in the old crown coaching inn. Relaxing historical clean hotel with helpful friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Would yes I would.

Something is going on here and my guess is new management. Clearly working as the place is already looking smarter and they have an excellent menus. Highly recommended if you are in town.

Lady in the bar downstairs was lovely and welcoming, we sat with high hopes of a lovely meal with good service, however after we had been seated we apparently became invisible, The food from the carvery was ok but after eating, I noticed 2 plastic jugs one with cauliflower and the other which appeared to have a cheese sauce in... Met a couple of colleagues for a business lunch. The pub was quiet and we sat in teh sunny court yard. Food was typical pub grub, served quickly with a nice pint.

The Yorkshires were dry and overcooked as if they had been reheated and the veg im sure came out of the freezer was overcooked. As for the desserts again out of the freezer... More

Visited this last Sunday. First patrons of the lunch service and about 40 of us in total. The set up was nice in the "private" room we'd booked, right next to carvery. We all started queuing for the carvery and waiting our turn to then have members of the public kicking off about standing and queueing and waiting. All be... More
