I am really sorry to read about your recent experience at The GT and would like to apologise to you for your experience. I have tried to investigate what went wrong but without knowing when you came, or what you ate it is difficult to trace. Sometimes things can go wrong with a food order and when this happens, we... My wife and I have seen the reviews for the inn with rooms and to be honest, I cannot comment on the overnight accommodation, but having called for lunch today, we can honestly say it was an exceptional a la carte meal, if a bit pricy. The negative reviews are not really to be trusted and personal experience belies the... More

We have visited twice within a fortnight, one Thursday and the following Friday. On both occasions the place was almost empty ( 4others on one occasion and 6 on another, although there was a private party upstairs). One begs the question, why? It is not what you would call reasonable, very top end on some things and a subtle flicker... More

Thank you very much for posting such an objective review and also for supporting us so well recently. We have had the odd quieter evening but also extremely busy ones but I did want to assure you that the issue with the lighting on the Friday evening was with the power and nothing to do with the staff wanting you... Booked room and meal. Service and food excellent. Room very nice. Wine list extensive. Really had a great evening. Lovely setting and decor throughout and good breakfast to finish. Easy to find and accessible parking

Patronised this establishment for many years and never been presented with poor food. The menu is seasonal and changes every few months plus there is a specials menu to keep regulars engaged. The menu caters for all tastes - from the traditional fish and chips to venison and quail. The fish dishes are inventive of sea trout and cod fillet.... More

Like many restaurants, can be inconsistent. For many years it was one of our occasional favourites with all the boxes ticked - atmosphere, service and particularly the food, all at reasonable pricing. And then on a special occasion dinner it was a minor ill-served disaster, broadly a result of poor service. It's now a "never again" location because there's so... More

Three of us had dinner on Sunday evening. We enjoyed pre-dinner drinks in the stylish and comfortable lounge followed by a meal in the restaurant. Starters of bresaola, queen scallops with a cheese topping and king scallops with belly pork and apple were all impeccable. Two of us had hake with spinnach and I had seabass served with pesto on a... Went here 2 weeks in a row and had same dish. Chicken liver parfait, pie and pudding. 1st wek was amazing with lush gravy and tasted so yummy we had to go back. Must have been a different chef, most disappointing and the gravy was watery and tasteless, its put me off so i wont rush back.

Went on a Saturday night for dinner. Loved the feel of the restaurant immediately. The service from start to finish was excellent. All 3 courses were Devine. Not cheap but worth every penny.

Having visited before food has always been good, the starters and mains were nice but overall experience was poor. Place is too cold, service slow, no specials offered, desserts horrible and cold coffee all amounted to a disappointing experience - the place lacks overall atmosphere - expected more.
