Even though whitstabke is famous for its oysters and fish I wanted a ploughmans and after a look on trip advisor this pub came up. We were welcomed by the bar staff, and after ordering drinks we asked if they still did a ploughmans which they did. We ordered one ham and one cheese. We could've just had one between... More

Great pub, superb real ale, clean, tidy and always a friendly welcome. When the tv is on its mot overwhelming, its spot on. Always a venue I visit when I am in town, food is ok too.

We called in to ask if the Leinster rugby match would be on, they looked it up and put it on for us! I really enjoyed the selection of local ales on tap there, much more flavour than the tasteless muck in most of the other pubs, the staff were courteous and helpful, the pub atmosphere was lively but warm... Visited as we wanted to watch a football match. Had young children with us. Most staff very nice but one grumpy man who possibly was a staff member or the owner. What is it with the English that they're not child friendly! He was rude and although my grandsons were very well behaved and I was watching them at all... More

Maybe just unlucky as the reviews on here seem to show they are a very consistent business. However when we visited we weren't made to feel at all welcome. More like outsiders. Beer was ok. Food looked good. Although we didn't stay long as felt uncomfortable

Very friendly and a proper 'local', lots of regulars. Good German food (and schnapps!) and in winter they do mulled wine with a shot of Amaretto and a piece of Stollen (can't be beaten on a cold day!). Can get very busy during sports events, big screens. There is a back door so is accessible for wheelchairs, and have been... More

Popped in for a drink before we headed off to a restaurant. Very friendly and welcoming place. Had a nice beer and there were free tables as it was only 5pm. One of those really nice old fashioned places where they still believe in customer service with a smile. I would recommend a visit.

Never fails to deliver value for money and hot, filling food! Best place in Whitstable for German sausage and chips with a pint! Great family run establishment too- keeping it local.
