We have eaten at the Highdown on a number of occasions, on each occasion the service, food and drink has been superb the food portions being large!! The atmosphere in the Highdown is also very welcoming and very cosy and it's well worth a visit.

We decided to take our neighbour out for a midweek lunch and chose the Highdown as it is local to us, we all had different meals. One ham egg and chips one cheese burger chips and coleslaw one salmon & prawns in a dill sauce with pots & veg. We all enjoyed our meals, the staff were friendly and helpful,... More

We stopped here for late lunch on our walk back from The Needles to Freshwater Bay. The place had been transformed from the pub we had expected, now to be a restaurant. The Sunday lunch being served around us looked great! However the menu was very limited for vegetarian choices, also if you wanted a simple meal this was hard... More

Had heard good things about the Highdown - and eventually got round to trying it. But a disappointment. The pub felt and smelt a bit tired - but just a pub so gave it a chance. Had a fish platter for lunch - but very average. I could have gone and got the ingredients from the supermarket as that it... More

Enjoyed a lovely Saturday lunch. Good quality food and excellent portion size. Locally sourced fish and meat provided plenty of choice. Vegetarian options looked interesting and varied. The dog was welcome, always a bonus.

We had visited this place before and had good food. It had been decorated since our last visit. The menu was extensive. My father had roast beef and said it was the best he had ever had. Good portions well cooked food and lovely ambience. The waitress was very very efficient and friendly.

This is a tough one, I have been here before and it is a popular watering hole, sometimes too popular for the locals when the invading hordes of tourists take over. However, you cannot punish a hostelry for being popular, unless of course you are among those left outside with noses pressed against the window, smelling good things from within.... More
