We were forced back to Wilstone village, from our walk along The Grand Union Canal as a boater had left the sluices open on the locks and the footpath was flooded! Whilst the waterways were rectifying the situation we stopped for refreshment in this lovely village pub. It has a lot of character and is well worth a visit .

Paid a mid-week lunchtime visit. Arrived at noon to receive a friendly welcome and good service. The traditional feel of the pub is nice and there is seating inside and out. Menu is not 'fine dining' but us varied enough that there is something for most tastes. Ordered beef and red wine pie with chips and my wife had ravioli... More

Thank goodness for the local village pub. Especially in this day and age when so many pubs are closing down. Seemed well used. People eating in the bar area. Visited for lunch. Best Brie and bacon sandwich had for a long time. Bacon cooked to perfection. Salad garnish well presented and very fresh. To take it to another level fresh... More

We booked the half moon on advice from friends and were not disappointed. The pub as and eating area is quite small but not cramped. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Thea table was laid and ready to go. There is a good selection of choices our party had ribs, fish lasagne and sausage and chips. All were very... More

I have been in this cute little village pub a few times before but since my boyfriend d has moved to the village I have now had some lovely food in there. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and as well as pub grub goes it is fantastic!! Definitely eating in there again.

Found this pub whilst walking the grand union. Made to feel welcome with children in muddy boots. Good selection of sandwiches at reasonable prices. Ciabatta was huge and good sized children's meals.

Warm welcome and good service with good quality pub food made this an ideal location for lunch. Varied menu with specials available. No pretensions just a good atmosphere in a proper traditional pub serving real ale well conditioned. Dogs welcomed and good sized pub garden out back. Close to Tring Reservoirs and canals. Good stopping point for cyclists and walkers

We always try to pop in here when walking the canals around Tring. A proper village pub: oak beams, horse-brasses, old photos and a welcoming open fire. Definitely no loud music, slot machines or sports TV. Friendly staff and locals, well-kept beer, and two affectionate resident dogs to pamper (dog-biscuits available from a converted bubblegum machine!)

We are new dog owners and like to take to take walks around the local reservoirs in the area. We're recommended this Pub by locals in our own local! We now make a little detour on our way home to come here and grab a pint. They have a good mix of main stream beers and local stuff too. It's... More
