Lovely friendly staff, very helpful and knowledgeable about what they serve.Loved the fact it was such an old building aswell. The food here was delicious and we will definitely be back, especially when the weather gets nicer as it will be really lovely eating outside by the canal.

Very homely and quaint. Great food beautiful view of canal.only negative is small car park. Easy to find although tucked away from main A41 relaxing watching barges going through the lock.only fail is the amount of traffic crossing the swing lock.

Friends just moved to Hemel took us here to try it out. I expect it is nice in the summer near the canal. Our friends had their dog so we sat in the bar at a table that the pub reserved for us. Table was very small for 4 to eat from. Food was very nice and friendly staff. Toilet... More

Lovely pub.. In pretty surroundings. Great food after a winter walk. Sat in front of a cosy fire eating a fantastic steak and chips. :)

Went last night for a post Christmas meal. Had camberbert for starters which was lovely and tasty, followed by perfectly cooked ribeye steak. Had no room for pudding - great portion sizes - very generous !! Prices were reasonable and service good, so good we have cancelled reservations we had elsewhere next week and booked to come back here !

Called in to the Three Horseshoes for lunch on Boxing Day after walking our dog along the Grand Union Canal. The Pub was very busy with many reserved tables. It was nice and warm with wood burning stoves, Lunch was ordered and was served promptly the food was good and hot and well worth eating and the staff very friendly.(I... More

Haven't been here for some considerable time. The pub is situated by the canal and looks idyllic with low beams and open fires. Came here with 20+ colleagues - quite a challenge for any establishment. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of service - no one was left without a meal. The food was hot, well presented and enjoyable.... More

Have been using this pub to meet friends for years and the toilets have always been dirty and very smelly. However they are now so bad we have had to stop coming as I cannot get rid of the smell in jy nostrils. The gents is always flooded and the stench is vile. Also the tables are dirty and sticky.... Visited here late on a Saturday lunch time in early December. The great news is that while many would consider this to be a great summer pub, I can highly recommend it as a lovely winter pub also. Great wholesome food cooked to perfection. The quality of the pies. OMG the pastry. This is definitely not mass produced and frozen... More

Prawn starter smelt off, nobody came to ask if the food was okay. Both burger mains were very overcooked - dry and tasteless. Again, nobody came to ask if the meal was okay. There were NO other tables occupied, yet the staff did not have the courtesy to provide any level of service. Had to pay at the bar, as... More
