So I phoned up last minute and managed to get a table for myself and my family, the lady on the phone was very helpful and friendly, when we arrived we were greeted by the same lady that was once again friendly and helpful, she was talking to the kids too, which was lovely to see, we were told all about the new measures that were put in place for the Covid and we felt very safe, the tables were clean and bar was clean, the staff were all clean and tidy and wearing there face masks. We ordered our meal via the app which was easy to use, the food came out and it was very good, and good value. I have been to a few hungry horses in the past and this one was far the best, we have been to a all different pubs, restaurants and cafes over the last few weeks for family meals and as far as services and safety this has been the best. Would recommend this place to anyone. Well done to all the staff here.

Excellent service under difficult conditions

Jackie, Jason and I went to heron last night on the first day of the latest Coron-19 measures which require all staff wear masks and they can only provide table service. We really felt for staff who were working under very difficult circumstances. despite this everyone of the staff we came across was doing their very best to ensure our experience wasa positive one. We still saw the smiles despite the masks, their eyes showed all! Our food took a little longer, when it arrived the reason was apparent, our meal was very freshly cooked and I would assume there was very little pre-prepared. The food was all very nice and very tasty. Clearly the Heron is very well managed and the team are pulling together under extremely difficult times. Well done!

And hoc visit to The Heron hungry horse restaurant in Havant. Popular place for families, but we found a booth and after consulting the menu of dreams made our order. Food arrived within a reasonable time and have to say that everything about the chicken New Yorker was spot on tasty and plentiful. Chose a pint of green king IPA and this too was great. Customer service also was very good. Overall a very pleasant experience and one we intent to repeat in the not too distant future ... Recommended!!

A Sports Pub trying to align with a cheap food establishment

I use the Heron for the football coverage which is excellent. i have a problem with their inability to serve drinks in a timely manner as opposed to food. I understand the philosophy as there is more profit in the food sales but it is frustrating to wait maybe 10 minutes for a pint when I have no interezt in the food side of the business. From my viewpoint the food I see is popular with the clientele they have as its cheap and they have lots of promotions however its snack food to a degree like hot chicken wings. It suits some people but I would still only use the pub as a sports venue because they meet my needs that way.

Amazing waitress

we came for a family meal on the 27th September to the heron. Felt very safe, covid measures in place, was all explained to us and the children so we all.kmew what we were doing. We had THE most amazing waitress she was so attentive so good with the kids. One of my daughters has food issues so mealtimes and eating out can be quite stressful and she completely took that on board and was so understanding and helpful. She really could not of been more patient, she went out of her way to make sure there was something she would eat. She made sure that my daughter had a meal and pudding she was really happy with and really did go the extra mile. Her customer service was amazing and definitely deserves recognition. All 3 of my children commented on how lovely and kind she was. In a busy job to take the time to make people feel so welcome and is really rare. I forgot to ask her name but my daughter is convinced it was Christina . The food was lovely and great value too 👌

Same pub, still amazing!

We visited last night for my friends birthday and it was SO good to be back in The Heron! The manager made us feel welcome and explained the new procedures clearly to us. The food was as always, out of this world and was served to us quickly. The only real change is that they serve any food or drinks to the table next to you and you pick it up. The app was easy to use and hassle free. I absolutely love this pub and the staff there, they are always so kind and attentive and everything is always done with a smile. Nothing is too much for them. So glad we found this gem a few years ago and thank you all for making our first ‘covid secure’ meal out so great. Can’t wait to come back soon!

Well worth the wait!!

On seeing the Breakfast Banner on display 3 July, I tried to book for breakfast on 4 July (when hospitality was allowed to start opening post lockdown). Unable to do so I sent a message and was informed that The Heron was going to reopen on "Monday 6th" .. oooh noo... so all week, like a carrot and stick, the thought of a Heron brekkie kept me going. This morning, just after 9 (more or less as they opened) we pitched up. The new 'rules' were gone through... then I ordered breakfast. Oh boy..really was worth the wait... first thing i have not cooked since lockdown.. Well done to the management and staff. The pub was (despite new covid measures) welcoming, definitely covid safe. If you are anxious about going out to eat following easing of lockdown, i certainly recommend The Heron. Great team, great pub and great management. If the parent company get to read this, which I hope they do, this was a pub which until 'the girls' took it on, i would never go near. They have rid it of its 'bad reputation' and created a lovely atmosphere that is second to none. Well done.

I'm much more of a traditional pub person to be honest but I really do like the Heron. The staff are friendly and welcoming, drinks are well priced and the food, particularly the deals, great value for money and tasty. Chicken Jalcrazy (a hot and fiery version of guess what), rice, chips, 2 poppadoms, naan, 3 onion bahajis and pint of San Miguel for 9 quid. Plenty of parking. Dog friendly (not main eating area), pool table and live sport.

We chose to go here today as we couldn’t have a proper wake due to covid, Nan also used to love it here and it certainly didn’t disappoint! From the lady that greeted and sat us to Calvin who served us we had a lovely lunch. Nothing was too much trouble (and we did have a few changes to our meals) but everything that we asked came out as we’d asked. I had the southern fried chicken burger which I would definitely recommend! I’d like to thank all the staff for a lovely meal and great service after a difficult morning

Dissapointing

Me & my partner visited here for the first time after recently moving to the area. They have a great selection of food to suit all tastes & the restaurant has a nice atmosphere to it. We ordered the cheesey sharer to start which I can't fault at all. I ordeted the Chicken Parmigiana & my partner ordered the Burger Sizzler Combo. When the meal was bought to our table we were asked if we wanted anything else & my partner asked for bbq sauce. The potatoes on my plate were cold & not at all in the slightest bit warm. The chicken was OK but wasn't anything to shout about. My partner never received the bbq sauce & no one bothered to check back asking if everything was OK with our meals. We waited for someone to come back to our table to check everything was OK but no one did. I didn't see why I had to go to the bar to get someones attention when plates in our area were being cleared. My meal was dissapointing & my partner didn't enjoy his either. Upon leaving we didn't bother complaining as we had a discount voucher & a gift card to use so we only paid £15 for our total bill; however this has put us off & sadly if we return it'll be for drinks only.

Lovely evening , very warm welcome from staff, I had the mixed grill which was cooked and presented perfectly and reasonably priced very enjoyable. All our meals came out together and the service was great, staff insured you had everything you needed bar staff were very friendly . Lovely experience and would definitely return . Very impressed with the fact that the menu’s were cleaned after use .

Perfect find

What a superb find. We were looking for somewhere to eat, whilst we were waiting for the vet to say we could collect our dog, (mon 13th sept) and we came across The Heron. Well what a perfect find, the staff are absolutely brilliant, customer service is second to none, a warm friendly welcome awaits you when you arrive, and the service is attentive but not intrusive. The portions are a great size, and we were so impressed we acrually returned again tonight 14th Sept to have another meal. Sophie , Marie and the rest of the team do this place justice, such a wonderful atmosphere, beautifully decorated, there's a restaurant area for adults, and a large bar area that's not only family friendly but dog friendly too. Go check it out, highly recommended.
