I went to the Sunday Roast with my family that I haven't seen in 20 years. There were 10 of us and we all had the Roast; the food was absolutely delicious with big portions and family style side dishes. The Desserts were exceptional. Customer Service was top notch in this friendly quaint village pub.

Fabulous food and Sunday lunch. Could not fault until our smallest child came in sobbing because a man had told her not to run over some part of the pub garden. She was so upset, as was her older brother, that it really cast a big cloud over our lunch. Lovely food, but this is not a family friendly venue... More

Thank you so much for your feed back, and I am so sorry that your children were upset. At the Phoenix we pride ourselves for creating a lovely venue and work hard to ensure your surroundings are clean, beautiful, and everyone who visits us has an amazing experience. I've noticed a few negative reviews from what looks like negative people on here and can't think why those comments are being made. I only go out on special occasions and the Phoenix is always my first choice and has been for years. It's just the perfect place and I realized I haven't left a lovely comment about this place... I've eaten here time and time again the food is always amazing the service isn't always great but the wait staff are all pretty young and it's extremely busy so maybe that's why, it really doesn't matter anyway the foods that good! Sunday roast not to be missed!

We wanted a good evening after a hard day's work. We had a delicious meal, Mark's steak was declared to be one of the best he's had and Sisi helped me to choose a rather fine wine. Staff are so friendly and helpful and we were treated as special guests, as we always are. So lucky to have this great... More

I went to the Phoenix for Sunday lunch and had roast chicken with Ll the trimmings. It was truly the most delicious roast I have ever had anywhere, even mine which is pretty spectacular.

The Phoenix is a historic and magnificent building in a prime location, with a large car park and a beautiful, peaceful garden. The food is simple, fresh, as much as possible local. Andrew Ryder, chef proprietor is passionate about provenance and seasonality. The menu changes frequently, to allow for seasonal favourites. The service is friendly and informal, staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. There is always a good selection of real ales and the extensive wine list suits all tastes and pockets.
