Frequently restaurants with very long menus end up cooking none of them well. Villa Romano is an exception . Our party of 6 all chose different main courses and all were pronounced excellent. My partner had belly pork which was served with beautifully cooked and...I suspect pan finished vegetables. I helped her out and the pork belly had a thick crusty crackling which after the initial crack just melted in the mouth and the pork itself pulled easilly into succulent strips. I had Tuna staek which also came with the same delicious vegetables and in addition a well balanced, hearty and aromatic tomato based sauce. Tuna can very easilly be spoiled either too oiloy or too dry, this steak was cooked to perfection. Our friends all opted for different pastas and all plates were wiped clean.I was the only one with room for dessert which was a lovely caramel panna cotta with just the right degree of wobble !! Staff who are Italian were warm and welcoming and were clearly knowledgeable about the dishes being served. Lovely atmosphere which on a wind and rain lashed Thursday takes some doing. All together a lovely relaxed dining experience.More

The restaurant staff were warm and welcoming, attentive but not over powering, the menu had a lovely selection of dishes plus there was daily specials to choose from. The food was well presented and fresh, the scallops were perfect! The wine complemented the food and...the tiramasu was delicious, would highly recommend a visit, we are looking forward to our next visitMore

Yesterday was 5 years to the day that we last visited Villa Romana to celebrate my wife's birthday Pandemics aside, the reason for not returning sooner was that the previous owners, in my humble opinion, did not have a clue about Italian Hospitality. That is...so not the case with the new owners. From the moment we arrived we got that great Italian welcome and we were made to feel as though we were invited into someone's house for a family meal - fantastic. The food was delicious and better than any we had there under previous ownership. The selection of drinks is excellent and the standard and friendliness of the staff was wonderful. Villa Romana is a real gem hidden away in Fareham and I am so glad to live in walking distance of it. It is fabulous to know at last we have a proper Italian restaurant to delight our senses We will not be leaving it five years before we return! Thank You!More

Absolutely delicious food with great service. I'd highly recommend the fungi starter and the mussels for main. Their deserts are all made in house and you can tell the difference between these and the usual bought in ones! If we were not so full, we...would be back for dinner tonight!More

My girlfriend and I went for a belated anniversary meal and I can honestly say it was wonderful! :) The waiters and waitresses were genuinely kind and attentive from the moment we arrived to the moment we left on a really busy evening. My girlfriend...also requested for flowers and candles to be put on the table and it made our evening that little bit more special! The food was fantastic, especially the homemade pasta, we couldn’t recommend this restaurant more! :)More

Amazing food and genuinely lovely waiters…. Service was quick, food delicious and plenty of it… Only problem was they don’t take tips on the card machine and none of us was carrying cash but will remember this and leave a double next time… Thank you...Villa Romano - you never disappoint 👏🏻👏🏻More

This is our favorite “go to for special occasions” restaurant. The food is always excellent. The most recent visit was our first “not 5 star” experience but based upon service alone. There were only about 4-5 tables seated but all were celebrating birthdays. Service consisted...of 2 people and 1 was in training. Things moved very slow. Very. We were there much longer than expected and had to ask for our bill after sitting finished for 15 or so minutes. Food always top notch and staff is friendly.More

We’ve just waddled home from a fantastic evening here. Although we’ve lived in Fareham since last year, this was the first time we’ve eaten here. We had a starter each (Arancini- gorgeous, and garlic mushrooms in a cream sauce-lovely) a main and a dessert, cheesy...garlic bread and a bottle of primitivo for just over £80. The quality and portion size of the food was exceptional; I had risotto frutti di mare which was chock full of beautifully cooked seafood and my partner had tagliatelle con granchio e aragosta which was tiger prawn and crab pasta. Let me tell you, my partner is a catering manager and is not easily pleased when it comes to eating our but she was blown away. We both also had desserts; homemade profiteroles and apple pie which were lovely. It being my birthday, a little pot of ice cream with ice cream was brought out by the waiters singing Happy Birthday in Italian! The staff were really attentive, food was delivered at a good pace and piping hot and the atmosphere (80% full on a Tuesday) was warm and welcoming. We will absolutely be back. Grazie Mille Villa Romana.More

We were four diners on a first visit who absolutely love Italian food, we were given a very warm welcome by a waiter at first then by the two waitresses in turn, their attitude to us throughout the whole evening was excellent in all ways...they couldn’t be faulted. The food was superb, I started with the muscles in cream sauce which were cooked perfectly, main course was mushroom and chicken risotto which was exceptional, followed by the smoothest panna cotta. I won’t go into the food details of the other diners in our party suffice to they like me were impressed. before our main course arrived we were treated to two free dishes of pasta meals as a taster this is unprecedented, certainly unsolicited but more than welcome. In short we will be going back for more.More

Tuesday evening dinner visit. Restaurant quite busy at 19.00 when we arrived. Initial welcome somewhat stern (unusual in an Italian restaurant) but the table service was of a very high standard - nice mix of professionalism and humour in our main waiter. Service was unhurried...- our two-course meal and drinks was spread over 90 minutes - and the bill was £50. Good menu, which can be viewed online. Background music was not intrusive and added to the atmosphere. A pleasant experience.More

We use to really enjoy Villa Romana as a good quality Italian restaurant. It was a family meal for 8 of us. Review gets a 2 and not a 1 as staff were very nice. Starters, Calamari was the most rubbery ever had, the arancini...which said rice balls filled with bolognaise sauce and served with the sauce. It came as 1 cone shaped parcel with a tiny juice striped with the back of a spoon to make it look Masterchef. It was bland and dry. Main courses over priced. Lamb was nice but vegetables were cold, served on a cabbage leaf. Broccoli almost a puree, got the wrong potatoes as other people Lamb had roast potatoes but mine had boiled. Silly bit of rocket on the side which is a habit a lot of restaurants unfortunately do as it means plates are cold and good goes cold. Not required. If I want a salad I will order one. Salmon over cooked and came with roast potatoes, obviously they should have been with the lamb sowete plated wrong. All in all quality of fast food as it came very quickly. Won't be going back any time soon, over priced and under whelming.More

Went for a special meal and we were not disappointed. The restaurant and staff did everything to make sure we were well catered for. Food as always was amazing and the staff were soo attentive. If you want a restaurant for a special occasion this...is the one. We have visited 3 times now. Twice as a family and once as a couple. I cannot praise them high enough. By far the best restaurant in the area.More

They are really good at catering for everyone’s needs but because I’ve never gone with children I don’t know. Best bet would be to call them and ask
