Staff and owner worked hard to accommodate our vegan diets and served up absolutely delightful courses with gorgeous presentation. All our dishes were scrumptious but the rhubarb tagliatelle with raspberry sorbet and fresh strawberries was an amazing finish to our dining experience. Highest recommendations.

A birthday meal for four and we were welcomed by Front of House. That was the last time we saw anyone of a management level. We were seated upstairs which was fine, there were probably three or four other tables occupied and it was nice and quiet. Order taken by a very young chap with pencil and pad, yes, he... More

Visited recently - table was too close to the next one, even the staff couldn't quite get in between it to serve the food which seemed silly when there were empty tables. My biggest criticism is that we waited for 40 mins at the table before a wine/drinks order was taken, and then I had to request someone come and... More

This is an absolute find. Small menu with everything cooked to perfection. Taster Menu with/without wine also on offer. Excellent, timely service in a lovely atmosphere. You sense the quality from the point of taking our coats and taking our party to our table. Each course delivers a surprise, being a soup taster with the starters to petit fours with... More

We visited Ronnie's for our Anniversary lunch. The food was delicious and full of flavour! the duck was our favourate. We had the tasting menu and a drink for around £24.99 each, this is an amazing price for 5 large courses, we left feeling extremely full and even left lots of the food so you get more than you think.... We always enjoy eating in Ronnie's but our meal on Saturday was particularly fantastic. As ever the service was excellent, with Marco and Ronnie both taking the time to ensure we (and the other guests) were having a good evening. The food was exquisite with the added extra's between courses always an enjoyable surprise and of course the wine recommendation... More

Booked last minute and couldn't have felt more welcome. Delicious food and friendly atmosphere. Service was a little odd, loads of different staff serving us including a young girl who seemed terrified, perhaps better to have a consistent waiter per table. Ronnies provides a few extras to the meal you ordered and these were also rather strange - pickled carrots... More

Visited for the first time today for lunch. Professional service from the moment we arrived with a pleasant ambience with no rushing between courses. All of the food, from the appetisers to petit fours, was delicious. While eating off the a la carte menu may not be cheap the quality of the meal reflects the price. Overall one of the... More

Visited last night for family meal. Steaks were the best ever - service was good (though could be improved with more attention to detail - listen to specifications)! More side orders (e.g. vegetables) would have improved the meal further. Others will defo visit again :)

From the very start (around ten years ago?) Ronnies has always exceeded expectations delivering quality dishes with friendly and thoroughly professional service. We are regular diners here (albeit not as frequent as we would like to be) and we've never had a bad experience. This evening the risotto was perfectly made and the wild boar terrine with accompaniments was just... More

Description
Ronnie's restaurant in the heart of Thornbury has turned a crumbling 17th century building into a lively, stylish eaterie and coffee lounge. Recently voted South West Restaurant of the Year by The Good Food Guide, the dining room features exposed natural stonework and beamed ceilings hung with art works from Castle Gallery. Chef-owner Ronnie Faulkner brings years of training and experience in the kitchens of stars like Anton Mosimann to his inventive modern European cuisine prepared with a British twist. Signature dishes include seasonal dishes like seared scallops wrapped in bacon, Cornish lamb with baby spring veg and lemon. Local produce is the rule, and wines are supplied by boutique vintners with many available by the glass.
