Draped along the magical heights of the Himalayas (Himalayan Kingdom) Nepal, is one of the most stunning and beautiful small countries of the world. It sets a romantic image with its ancient culture, is the birth place of Buddha and home to the famous Gurkha soldier. Here at the Gurkha Restaurant we strive to maintain the many traditional and delightful culinary cultures from all corners of Nepal. Our vastly experienced chefs have learnt the skills of traditional cuisine in Nepal and are now preparing the same delightful dishes here at the Gurkha Restaurant. Bringing the customs of both cuisine and warm service, it is our intention that dining at our restaurant is a unique experience with many…
We all shared various dishes from the extensive menu which were authentic, tasty and freshly prepared, I highly recommend the tilapia. The four of us were given a nice table & there was safe distancing between other tables. The staff were delightful, attentive and the...service excellent. The prices were reasonable and the gentleman who owns the restaurant was in the Gurkhas, he is a great host & made us feel very welcome.
The atmosphere is pleasant, funky lighting!More
I was given a nice table and service was professional but not especially friendly to a single lady.
The food was good but the okra side dish was very poor with very little okra and much sauce. I was asked by tow staff members and...I fed this back but no effort was made to make the customer happy.
That was a shame since they had every opportunity to offer more okra. The bill was paid with no allowance made but as a result no tip was left.More
Wife and I poped in for a meal on Tuesday 26th April for an evening meal. As alway food was perfect really fresh and well cooked, Service top quality we had a lovely evening and must not leave it so long next time to visit....This place really can not be beaten for good food and serviceMore
This is a great Indian restaurant. One of the best in the world not just Essex. The service and food are excellent. It’s not your traditional Indian food however, you can get North Indian dishes here that you would not normally have in other restaurants....Take home anything left and it tastes great the next day too.
Will definitely be coming back.More
We all enjoyed our meals and all had different main courses. The food was authentic and very different to normal Indian cuisine which given that it is Nepalese was what we had hoped for. Very enjoyable and would definitely recommend to others.
Yesterday (30 th March 2022) we ordered takeaway from the Gurkha. It was delivered well before the anticipated time by the owner of the restaurant, who recognised us from the visits to his establishment.
The food was excellent, as good as in the restaurant itself....The portion size was of equal quality and value.. I would recommend the takeaway service to anyone. Quality 10,service 10, I cannot rate this restaurant high enoughMore
This is our second visit to Chelmsford and with that our second visit to The Gurkha. Amazing Nepalese food prepared and served by lovely staff. This time we chose to eat a banquet for three, great selection to choose from - mixed starters were delicious!...Curries looked and tasted authentic - no bright colours or swimming in oil/ghee and portions generous. I have no doubt when we visit Chelmsford again we will be back! Highly recommend.More
