This is a lovely old pub with an open fire, great service (they promptly brought water for the dog, never mind looking after the humans) and fantastic, freshly-cooked food prepared from fine local ingredients. The skate with chorizo was a thing of wonder and a fabulous portion, the chips creatures of sculpted magnificence and the carrots wonderful little triangular gems... More

Hello michaelbenis and thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Bell. We're definitely fans of well behaved dogs at the bell, though I'm glad your own needs weren't neglected either. Fish comes from a supplier who lands his catch in Hastings. He'll be delighted you enjoyed his fish, as are the we all. Thanks for... More

A night at The Bell was my birthday surprise. An intriguing place with something of interest or curiosity around every corner. Historic links, unusual pictures, open fire, unique (I would think) urinals and very, very quirky accommodation. Our lodge room out back was called Pretty Vacant. A lot of research and thought has gone into the design and uniqueness that... More

I was treated for a birthday with my family last saturday 14th January and the service was excellent. As for the food it was out of this world and thoroughly enjoyed every course of the three that we had together. I was full which speaks for itself on a cold winters day having had snow the night before. Could not... More

We stayed here for one night last night (Sunday) and really can't fault the place at all! Staff were all lovely and friendly, room and pub were quirky and fun plus really cosy and they made us feel very welcome, and baby friendly too. Only thing is if you're a light sleeper, maybe avoid the room right above the bar... More

Very cosy little pub tucked away in East Sussex, Quirky decor and great food at a reasonable price. Well worth a visit! Able to host parties in their function room and their gorgeous sunken chunky wood table!

Great dinner, so say grand-parents, parents, & kids. Service was friendly and attentive. Everyone loved their food. Calvados a touch pricey but forgiveable given that the steak and chips was spot on. One of the best places in the neighbourhood.

We had the pleasure of staying here earlier this year for a weekend away. Everything from the warm welcome we received, to our gorgeous, unique room we stayed in to the beautifully cooked food we eat added up to a very special time that we both really enjoyed. Would highly recommend.

my son and his new wife chose this venue for their winter wedding. what a wonderfully quirky place The Bell is! The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, very friendly and eager to please. The rooms were so imaginative, and such great fun! We had a tree "growing" in the middle of our room , and a huge... More

We have been here for lunch on many occasions and yesterday we decided to visit here and see what the Christmas menu was like and we were not disappointed. I cook a great deal at home and so sometimes it's just nice to go out and have something tasty. My experience is that Christmas food in restaurants and pubs can... More

Our lunch at the Bell on Sunday was superb. Advertised as 'Lunch with Santa', it exceeded all our expectations. The food was truly fabulous (I've had my fair share of Christmas dinners and they can be pretty bland, but this was just perfect in my book), the magician/balloon man/village idiot was hilarious (I'm not sure that he intended to be...
