We visited this pub last night looking forward to a good meal as per the reviews. Two of us ordered fish and chips - the fish was so small, the batter hard and one was almost burnt on top. We should have returned it but...More

This pub had been recommended before we arrived in the area, but we only booked and a couple of hours before arriving whilst out walking the dogs. Welcoming staff. Simple and compact room. Small car park and children's play area. Several local and national beers...More

We're terribly sorry that you had such a terrible experience in our terrible pub. Indeed, one cannot imagine anything more terrible than getting mash instead of chips. Mea culpa. As the terrible landlord with terrible control over the terrible chefs I hold my hand up....More

A great group of staff on Sunday made this pub a very good place for lunch. Unpretentious, even slightly shabby and a rather scruffy garden. But, all the better for not being turned into another Sussex trendy gastro pub. Good choice of beers from all...More

Thank you for your comments, although we might have preferred "proper pub" to "shabby" and "rustic" to "scruffy" (it is, after all, now autumn!). Anyway, despite the adjectives which could equally have been used in a "terrible" review you clearly appreciated what we try to...More

Took my in laws here last month as had read the numerous recommendations on here & it's not that far away. The menu has the usual pub fare, but then there was also ostrich burger & kangaroo which showed maybe this could be an interesting...More

A last minute booking for a family lunch that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. A warm and friendly welcome, excellent, tasty food extremely well presented and all at a very reasonable price. We will definitely visit again.
