Not our first visit to Southwold but was our first visit to the Café. Great location and, whilst not offering sea views, it is very close to the beach with a boating lake out front - and being able to sit outside on the (covered) veranda so as to be able to enjoy the warm day (for October) was a... Lovely setting, fantastic tea, lovely ladies and the most amazing selection of cake. Very tame ducks wander around your feet. Bliss.

Made a change from the main strip and only a few minutes walk from the pier. The cakes were very good.....if rather expensive but you do get given a huge slice. We took the kids on the premise of them being able to take out some boats but unfortunately they were not in service for half term. For a quiet... More

The extra walk away from the busier cafes on the pier is well worth it. Their cream teas are really very good - I would have said 'excellent' if they had changed two things: 1) It seems inexcusable, in a county awash with wonderful home produced jams, to serve their wonderful huge fluffy scones with one of those weeny little... WE discovered Thorpeness by accident. Spent a very pleasant afternoon at the café and sitting by the boating lake. The food was lovely, didn't take very long to be served even though it was quite busy. Had a lovely walk by the boating lake and fed the ducks. The weather was excellent. A truly pleasant afternoon.

the prices here are very reasonable. Tea is served in nice teapots and china cups which adds that little something. the place looks really lovely too. however the boating lake, that is right in front of the cafe, is disgusting. the words boating lake would certainly not bring this to my mind. it is thick of weeds and grasses and... When down in Southwold we usually stop in for a drink before leaving. It's a nice spot to relax and unwind. The older staff seem pleasant, though the younger ones look through you, as if you aren't there. Cakes looked lovely though, but have not had the opportunity to try them yet. The only real downside on this place (which... More

We had two cream teas which were nice, but I've definitely eaten better. The fruit scones themselves were nice, obviously fresh and homemade and were still warm (also really large!) The scones came with individual jars of strawberry jam and some whipped cream (sadly not clotted cream which I prefer and wasn't quite enough for the size of the scone!)... More

Really lovely cakes. We had afternoon tea, twice across 3 trips... lovely views. lovely decor. Accessible. Toys for children. The one thing that I feel lets it down is they only take cash.
