I was very eager to taste their local food. But i found it to be average. though i loved the fried meat ball and 2/3 things served in the plate.

Trattoria is in a crowded, busy market called Police Bazar in Shillong. Someone at our hotel recommended the restaurant for authentic Khasi food. We planned for dinner and reached the place around 7 pm but were surprised and a bit disappointed to find it in...the process of shutting for the day. Uncertain if they are open for dinners, we visited again for lunch the next day. The place is small and was full. We had to wait. Anyone planning to visit Trattoria after reading good reviews on them must be prepared to accept the fact that it is a local restaurant with mostly local diners, is cramped with seating like in a classroom. You will be sitting on benches at long, narrow tables, rubbing shoulders with others. Considering the high traffic, the food is always fresh and the lady who manages the restaurant and her staff offer quick service. The menu with pictures hangs on the walls but the easiest choice for a tourist is to order the Khasi `thali'. The thali contains rice, a choice of chicken/ fish/ pork, a beans-carrots vegetable, a banana vegetable, a couple of chutneys and Tungtop - fermented fish with chilly and Khasi pepper.More
Well where do I begin , 0 stars on service ... We went there for lunch since the big sitting area was full we were told to sit in thebother side of the stall .. we waited for 1 hour just to get the food...that too after ordering serveral times the servers were ignoring us when we got the food it was horrible rice was uncooked meat was still raw covered with raw masalas the tomato salad was very salty. It was our first and the last visit to that horrible place . They paid more attention bro the other customers whonwere sitting in the bigger part of the stall .Thank you all for your wonderful service I'm sure I'll never visit again.More
Experience the local North Eastern food here. Nothing fancy but tastes good. I had a veg meal for Rs130. A must try if you like to try local cuisines when you travel.
Visited twice in two weeks. Richi the owner is grt host . Had khassi food. It's awesome. Must visit.
Authentic khasi food... the place is small but very clean & tidy . Can get very busy very quickly. Best place for Khasi food in Shillong!
This place offers something different food to try. Definitely worth the visit. I liked the taste of it and the service was also quick.
This restaurant is located in Police Bazaar,Shillong. This restaurant is opposite to Delhi Misthan Bhandhar. This is a small restaurant and seating is not that comfortable. The table is also small. They only have a limited things to offer(I think there is no menu card...here). There is no parking space in front of this restaurant so plan accordingly. We went for lunch & ordered a jadoh pork platter and rice with fish curry. Both the ordered things were simply superb. Food is served immediately once we place the order. jadoh pork platter had small quantity of many pork dishes and it was good in taste. I especially liked the pork meat ball. Fish curry was also good. The quantity they serve per plate is just sufficient for a person and rates are also decent.I am not sure if this restaurant has many things to offer for vegetarians. I will highly recommend this restaurant for having Khasi food called jadoh.More
The Place is in VR Mall in Anna Nagar. The food and the desserts are good. The place is a little expensive.
Came here in the high hopes of a great authentic local experience but it was a bit of a let down. Seeing the pics with kids made me believe it was a family friendly restaurant but not really. We came here for lunch on a...rainy day. The place is super small and tables are really narrow and so is the seating - so it was tough to accommodate our 18.5mo old with the booster chair i was carrying. The owner is very friendly and warm and food comes really fast! But overall place isn't very clean, no bathroom and just a very small dirty sink available :( on a rainy day the floor gets dirty quickly and very slippery so wouldn't advise for families unless you are used to such conditions. Anyhow, we ordered pork and chicken thalis - both had very little meat and quite tough to chew - so again not very child friendly. Thalis are cheap but not much quantity actually and the taste was good but not what i was expecting given the high rated reviews. We honestly didnt enjoy the entire experience and was very put off. Perhaps need to come back once our kid is older and try again this experience. I usually take a lot of photos of all my food experiences but i was so put off that didn't take any :(More
A perfect destination if you are in Shillong to try the ethnic Khasi dishes. A perfect place for a non veg lover. Do try the Jadoh and this is a perfect lunch / dinner thing. You can also try the various fish, chicken and pork...items as well.More
This place offers very good food. You may need to wait to be seated considering the crowd. But it is good.
We were scanning the Police market area for a place to eat khasi cuisine. Its then that we noticed this little hole in the wall shop where a lot of locals were going to eat. When we sat down we were unsure of what to...expect but the owner walked forward and literally explained the menu to us. We ended up ordering the Pork platter and the Fish platter. While the pork platter was heavenly, there were some issues with fish scales and bones in the fish thali. But the quality, variety and quantity of the food overall were excellent. Visit it to have some authentic khasi food without burning a hole in your pocket.More
With a name like Trattoria, I expected something fancy so when I saw Trattoria - I was a bit taken aback. It's a real hole in the wall with the feel of a dorm room eating joint. There is nothing fancy about it except the...food. Richard the manager explains the food quite well and the Khasi food is absolutely fantastic. It tastes fresh, great and probably what an authentic Khasi meal should taste like. Don't miss it.More
