About

Six Hundred Downtown is a good old fashioned pizzeria, the way they used to be and they the way they were meant to be. We feel that pizza making is an art and we strive to create the best pizza we possibly can. We hand spin our pizzas the old fashioned way and we bake our pizzas in an old fashioned brick oven.

Really good food but bathrooms were disgusting

We got the garlic knots with cheddar cheese dip and let’s just say, no vampires will come near us. They were delicious but I couldn’t eat too many at once. Good to share. We got a brick oven pizza and it was also delicious. Service was also excellent. They had outside seating and all service staff wore masks as required. The only bad thing was the restrooms. They had two separate, single rooms, both unisex. I started to go into the first one and it looked like someone had an explosion in the toilet. Gross. So I went on to the second one. It wasn’t much better. There is no way those bathrooms had been cleaned in a very long time. Whoever was in the bathrooms need to go directly to the hospital because I think they blew their o ring. It makes me worry how clean the entire restaurant would be.

Very enjoyable food

My wife does a fair amount of business in Bellefontaine and frequently asks if I would like her to bring supper home. Last week, I went with her on an errand and we decided to try this restaurant. Very glad we did. We ordered the garlic knots to start. Very good. We both ordered different pizzas, with the plan on bringing home leftovers for a future meal. Large variety of pizzas to choose from, as well as 4 different crusts. We were quite pleased. We both highly recommend. The only area we would recommend improving on is the speed of service. It was rather slow. I think our waitress had too many tables to service. But, it wasn't unreasonably slow. We'll definitely be back.

Lunch With A large Group Of Friends

Let's just start by saying that it lived up to the hype!!! I have heard from many different people that this is a must do if you're in the area or Bellefontaine. We started off with a couple of appetizers the Pepperolli and Garlic Knots which I highly recommend. These are a large size appetizer so take that into consideration when ordering. For our pizza we got The Grinder which was amazing. The service was great and friendly. They also have a large beer menu along many specialty Pizza. This will not be our last time visiting hoping to go back in the summer and enjoy the outdoor seating.

Very disappointed

We ordered a to-go pizza from here for my son's birthday. He wanted the Grindhouse pizza with the Sicilian crust, which on their menu should be $18 99. When I called it in the lady said it would be $21.99, and when I explained that the menu had a different price she just went silent. So I just went with a medium with the classic Italian crust. $17.50. Ouch When my wife picked up the pizza she said it felt "light", and the box looked small. When we opened the box at home we were pretty disappointed. A 12" pizza with minimal toppings (it was supposed to have 5). Not much pizza for $17.50. We have dined at 600 many times in the past, and while it was pricey we enjoyed it. This time I just felt kinda ripped off. Maybe since it was a take-out they figured we wouldn't care after we got it all the way home (we live 45 minutes from 600 Downtown).

Slow slow service

We made reservations for a group of 12, had 2 tables. Our reservation was for 9:00pm we arrived on time and was seated quickly but that’s the only thing that happened fast. We received 3 waters in 10 minutes then waited and waited and waited for the rest of our drinks to arrive after 40 minutes we all had our beverages and then we had to go get straws ourselves because our ice had almost melted and we still didn’t receive them, after 90 minutes our food arrived while it was good it wasn’t worth the wait and it is expensive for pizza, I would not return

Ridiculously bad service

Order food here and they'll alert you when it's ready. Only problem is, once you arrive they tell you that they didn't have the item you ordered in stock. They can't be bothered to call you to save you the trip. I'm not even sure how they advance your order to the "ready for pickup" stage if they don't even have the item to make.

We have never had a bad meal or bad experience here. They are almost always busy. The menu offers quite the variety of pizzas, garlic knots are awesome but you really don't need an appetizer here.

Mad for the Hatter

Without doubt the best pizza available in this section of Ohio. Always friendly staff and attentive service. The garlic knots with marinara and garlic butter are our favorite appetizer. For sure try their Chicago style pizza but if I could only eat one of their pizzas it would be the mad hatter!!

Frankly it is overrated

We had lunch today. Based on previous reviews and the knowledge of having been on diners, drive-ins and dives…. This was a highly anticipated visit. We were seated very quickly, but that was where the good service ended. The service was not terribly bad, but the server appeared uninterested and slightly annoyed. We decided to try two pizzas. They cannot do half and half pizzas of the specialty unless they are of the same base sauce. We ordered a small Montana and a small chicken barbecue. The pizza was dry with very little sauce. It was to the point the main differentiation in the two pizzas was the fact that one had potato chips on it and one did not. We had some difficulty distinguishing the tastes. The restaurant was very dark to the point. We had to use the flashlight on our phone to completely read the menu. The bathrooms were unisex individual bathrooms, but fairly clean. Overall it was a disappointment…. there is not much motivation to return.

Weekend pizza road trip

My wife and I are retired and like to just get in the car and drive on day trips . Going to the Bellefontaine area is a favorite we periodically check out. We always eat at Six Hundred for the pizza. Being hand tossed and cooked in brick ovens makes all the difference for the delicious taste and there is a wide, wide variety of options to make the pizza just the way you want it. You can get it half and half. Also they have great fresh side salads.

Fabulous pizza

Without a doubt this is the best pizza. Nothing compares in my experience outside of Italy. I had the Double Barrel and my husband had the Americana pizza, both classic style crust, and it’s authentic Italian style pizza. Ok, that said, I have to mention that the bathrooms could use more frequent cleanings. Both bathrooms are family style, so anyone can use. Not a problem except that some people don’t have the courtesy to aim or actually throw paper towels into the bin. Let’s all do our part in the bathroom and make this restaurant a truly memorable experience.

Excellent lunch

Stopped in for a weekday lunch on a very rainy day. My brother had the six ways from Sunday pizza, I opted for an Italian sub. Both were very good. My Italian was just what you want from a pizza shop, true to form with good bread and meats. I wouldn't have changed a thing. My brother's pizza was very tasty. Not a thin crust but not thick either. I'll be having that and a sub when I go back. Service was good, not great but good. We were in/out in an hour. Overall very happy and will visit again. Recommended. Very quaint interior, older building.

Love the garlic knots!

Great food and service. Stopped by for lunch. Garlic knots were delicious with marinara. ($10). Medium pizza with pepperoni was just perfect. ($12.50 + $2.50 per topping). Love their garlic bilateral dipping sauce. Also had an iced cold Pepsi ($3). Our great server had a refill ready before I even asked! She was great.

Great pizza

I've heard a lot of good things about this place so when my Dad and I were driving through, we decided to stop for lunch. The place wasn't as busy as we expected, but it was a weekday. Ordered the garlic knots and two different small pizzas to share. Excellent! Will definitely be back.

I'm a bit confused about this place. I was in the area on a visit and had heard from more than one acquaintance that the pizza prepared at this establishment was exceptional. As a pizza lover with expansive experience with pizza in both Europe and the United States, I was interested. Today we had lunch here. The place was unpleasantly noisy and the wait at the bathrooms to wash hands before eating was unwelcome. Rather than a bunch of individual bathrooms, perhaps a larger area, combining the individual bathrooms into private stalls, with a common area for hand washing would make more sense. That's a typical approach in Italy and France, and it works very well. The waiter was prompt and attentive, if a bit annoyingly intrusive. And now to the pizza. It was... underwhelming. Don't get me wrong -- it was fine. It just failed to live up to its billing. Frankly, one pizza had a crust that was piping hot but slightly undercooked (judging from it's flaccid nature and the raw dough flavor apparent with each bite) whereas the other pizza ordered for the table was nearly room temperature upon delivery. Clearly, the latter had been cooked first and set aside, while the former had been rushed and brought to the table undercooked. The tomato sauce was okay. Nothing exceptional but it didn't detract from the pizzas. The other toppings were fine -- sufficient in quantity and reasonably flavorable. I'm frankly a bit skeptical about this "world pizza champion" billing, whatever that's supposed to mean. I've had far better pizzas at other restaurants that are recognized as having good products. I've even had far better pizzas at places with no awards (claimed or otherwise) at all. In other words and in my experience, Six Hundred Downtown is capable of giving patrons an okay pizza with somewhat inconsistent preparation. It won't be the best pizza you've ever had (and my condolences to you if you think it does) and it won't be the worst. It's an okay pizza place that left this customer wondering where the hype originates.
