The food was nice home cooked food and it was good that we could take the dogs in with us rather than leaving them in our holiday cottage, however the pub was a bit scruffy inside and could do with some renovation. The land lady and the chef were both pleasant and we had a nice time.

Staying in youlgrave as an advance party for others wishing to come and stay. The George is a good honest local serving good beer and from what I saw excellent hot food good sized portion and reasonably priced. The sausage rolls were monster's and looked appetizing. They also do a great takeaway service. The only thing that would put people off would... More

We stayed here for one night and although I would say it's a little dated you cannot fault the food or the staff. The room was large and warm enough, clean too. We often eat here as we have family in the village and would stay again.

Drove to Youlgreave for a lunchtime meal. Asked in advance if ok for dogs to come in, and 'twas fine to go into the 'snug' area. Car park at rear and limited parking at the front. Very dated interior. Felt like it needed a good scrub, and a good paint, to freshen it up. Bench seating was hard and could... More

Another pub we visited on our short stay in Youlgreave. Very popular with walkers and serve homemade cakes and the biggest sausage rolls i've seen. Had a great pint of Murphys but didn't dine. They di however do a takeaway service of fish and chips ( phone your order and collect ) which was excellent, piping hot and the fish... More

Taking my Parents both in wheelchairs one with advanced motor neurone disease and their naughty jack Russell in tow can be an ordeal. We booked a table in advance and we were welcomed in the snug. I have visited before so I am used to the home cooked lovely food. All of our party of six were delighted and amazed... More

The inside seating area is small and a little forlorn. But the locals there were friendly and the woman at the bar who took our orders was warm and helpful and the food (that night's special: beef bourguignon) was delicious!
