Lunch in the Peak District is a weekly event for us and it's always nice to find somewhere new that delivers what we expect. The initial greeting and friendliness of the staff either makes it or kills it and here they have got it right....More

Just got back from a really nice early evening meal on Father's Day. We had the surf and turf off the specials, turkey roast, scampi, and gammon and eggs. Desserts for us were waffles, bakewell pudding (mine. Delicious) and chocolate fudge. The pub is great...More

The food is really good. The service is polite and friendly. Great place to eat. We've eaten there a few times and never been let down.

Since Claire and the team have taken over last July this place has become a proper pub! I never used to come in before. Good atmosphere at the bar and the food is great. Only problem is I spend too much time in there!

We visited The Anchor for Sunday lunch over the May Day weekend whilst we were on a walking holiday. It's the first time we've been since it's been under new management and our party of five were very satisfied, both with the food and the...More

We only dropped in for quick drink, but the staff were so friendly that we decided to return for our evening meal, and we were not disappointed, as vegetarians we often find pub meals bland, boring and something of an after thought, not here, there...More

Great to find to a pub serving food on a Monday afternoon when so many in the area seem to be closed then. Very friendly, food freshly prepared and nicely presented. Whilst the menu appears to cater mainly for meat eaters my grilled haloumi salad...More

I know from personal experience, having telephoned later that evening to book a table (which was politely declined) that on that Thursday the landlady had been forced to close without warning because her husband, the chef, had required urgent hospital treatment following a fall. I am sure that you will appreciate that in this instance your comments are not indicative of this pub's usually excellent service. My wife and I are regulars eaters at this pub and the food has always been served in delicious filling portions and the staff as helpful as the can be.
