We came for dinner and had a fantastic ecperience. The owners are extremely nice, food is aboundant and so good! The lamb was just perfect, omelette amazing and salad and aubergine at their best. The place is quite close to the highway, easy to reach....Highly recommended, we are going back!More

This was Cretan hospitality at its best. The taverna is warm, cozy and pleasant. The selection of traditional food is excellent. We had snails prepared two ways, fried and with wheat, which were unique and delicious. We also ordered two meat dishes, which were excellent....The yogurt with quince was an amazing dessert. Although the owners speak no English, the menus are translated. Definitely worth the trip into the village of Plouti.More

MUST DO!💜 Little gem sort of in the middle of nowhere. Very cozy home-like greek atmosphere. And the home-made wine, the coffee, super authentic home-made delicious food, the music.. very genuine experience. P.s. google location seems to be off, just drive into the village, you’ll...see the tavern.More

What a fun place to visit. We arrived in Plouti fairly late and needed somewhere to eat. The owners speak very little English which added to the fun of the experience. Lovely hospitable people and excellent food and wine. We love the little village of...Plouti having stayed in the beautifully restored Aristides House for four nights and a visit to this taverna just added to our fondness for the village and its very friendly and generous people.More

Up in the mountain is a hidden gem called the Snail House. It has snails on the menu but we stuck with the traditional Greek cuisine. The Greek salad was the best I had whilst visiting Crete (I had a few) I also tried Dakos,...tomatoes and feta over crispy bread. Pork chop & chips - yum! Fried crispy aubergine. Large meat omelette. All the food well presented with simplicity. The room is rustic, clean. It feels like you’re in someone’s house. The Owner/mum/grandma was very friendly. Very affordable.More

We followed the signs to Plouti and the Snail House on a whim and were very glad we made the effort The food felt very authentic and was tasty and not expensive It is an old fashioned, charming place. We didn’t try the snails but...everything we did have was good and fresh They didn’t speak much English but the menu was in English and Greek If you want a simple meal in a small village this is ideal and highly recommendedMore

To Steki tou Xoxliou (The Snails House) is a little gem, tucked away in small but wonderful Pluti and with no view to speak of, it's the food and the people that make the difference here! Try the amazing snails with xinohondros, a mixture of...cracked hard wheat (hondros) and sour (xino) sheep's milk, served with home made bread and local raki. Having a conversation with the people who run the place was a highlight!More
