This pub is set in rural backgrounds and as such is what one would expect-full true Engish grub in a lovely country pub sat by the open fire(log),the meals are outstanding and very reasonable ,the staff and owners treat you as one of their own-outdoor play area for the kids ,large car park and has free running geese and chickens... Stumbled accross this lovely warm homeley pub just down the road from my b and b. Great home made steak pie. Triple cooked chips were excellent..

We had driven past this place so and it looked lovely from the outside 'Olde worlde' so decided to pay a visit for a meal. We arrived about ten past six on a Friday evening it was dead! Apart from an elderly couple and a group of four pensioners who were also dining. The placed looked like a relic from... More

This place never fails to make me leave feeling absolutely stuffed to the brim. Lovely home cooked food, and the deserts? - Well they are stunning. There is usually an offer on for 2 or 3 courses and having visited here many times it has always been one of the best places for me to eat in the area. Winter... More

We were staying in the area and stopped in for dinner twice. We found it had a mostly friendly atmosphere and the staff were pleasant. Vegetarian options were limited. The food was generous but not special. YMMV

We visited the Maypole twice whilst staying at a local B&B, the first time as a couple and the second with family. On the first visit we had our dog, so ate in the public bar. Obviously, as a public bar the surroundings / furnishings were not great, what with the local farmers coming in and out and other locals... More

Made a another visit to the Maypole on Saturday evening. We all love this little gem. It is like a step back in time but in a very good way. Food not messed about with. Not served on a slate or in a jar or on a block of wood. Excellent quality and very honest food. Very generous sized portions,... More

We have been visiting here ever since we discovered the Maypole around 4 months ago. It is a real little gem. The meals here are always first class and the prices surprisingly keen. The specials are always good, and the desserts (all home made) are just fabulous. Glenda & Lee

Recently had a birthday meal for four. Good selection of mix and match menus. Local beers. Not kept waiting and service excellent with a smile. Ample starters, hearty main courses, lush desserts and coffee and liquors. Very competitive prices. YOU MUST VISIT.Dorothy Martin Bryan Austin.
