We called in yesterday while walking near the Whitegate Way, for lunch. It was virtually full but we were found a table for two.... thank goodness ! Lovely menu and so much choice, beautiful food ( big portions) and great value. What really made this place apart from its beautiful setting, cosy atmosphere & tasty food, was the staff. All... We popped in for lunch on Sunday at the recommendation of Lamb Cottage Caravan Park where we were staying for the weekend. The food and service is fabulous. We enjoyed a sharing platter starter and bangers & mash and liver & onions for our mains. The starter and mains were huge, piping hot and so very tasty (we recommend the... More

Called here on spec on a Sunday at 2.30pm. This is a very popular restaurant and the dining room was full, definitely worth ringing ahead or you can book on line. We were kindly offered a table in the side bar called the taproom. We were the only diners in there with a table of locals having a drink, some... More

After reading about this pub in a little booklet we decided to give it a go. SO glad we did! We parked up and set off first for a walk around the area with our dog. There are maps of walks available inside the pub all with varied distances to suit all. On our return we ate in the bar... More

I enjoyed going to this pub. It was very busy considering it's off the beaten track, down a narrow road. We had a cheery welcome and as we arrived before the rest of the party, we had a peaceful and very good coffee, which came in nice new pottery cups with a mint chocolate. Lunch itself was hearty and hot... More

3rd visit. 1 and half hour round trip. Place was very busy. Waited for a table as hadn't booked (not a problem). Got a table and menus and then waited....and waited....and waited. After 20 mins went to the bar for further drinks and to ask for service. Very apologetic waitress who explained it was unexpectedly busy. Ordered food and waited... More

Visited here again. Food excellent and staff very friendly however the next time the barman goes the toilet please can he ensure he washes his hands. My partner witnessed him go the loo and not do this. He then went back to chopping lemons and serving. Disgusting.
