This was the fourth time we’d eaten at the Alderley and it’s fair to say that, had this been our first time, we would probably conclude that we might not come back. The experience simply wasn’t as good as previous visits. Food not as good. Service overly informal for a place that describes itself as “one of the finest restaurants... More

It has become something of a family tradition that we go for afternoon tea on the first Sunday in the New Year. This year we chose The Edge Hotel for the first time, with great success. Our table on arrival was in the lovely conservatory, which was busy enough to have a good atmosphere, without being crowded. The selection of... More

This was a family meal the food was exceptional we had the set menu. Allergen requests were easily catered for. The staff were attentive and particular appreciation is appropriate for how my medically challenged father was assisted My observation now is that this restaurant offers value for money, you have quality service and food in IN A PROPER RESTAURANT

Visited for a Christmas Lunch today with a group of friends, as we have done in a number of previous years. The standards here just never slip. We had the five course tasting menu. The menu was well balanced, it wasn't too heavy and every element tasted delicious. One of the nicest tasting menus we've had!

Evocative of times gone by, this restaurant offered a more sedate dining experience to the glitzier eateries that line the main road through the village. The plates were imaginatively arranged, and flavours were good. Tables were nicely spaced and linens were clean and crisp. The plates were well prepared and tasty. The complimentary amuse bouches added to our experience, and... More

This is the top end of the restaurants and offers fine dining with beautiful white table clothes and a lot of the food is sourced locally.

We ate here for our anniversary, our second tasting menu in two nights. We had eaten at a Michelin star restaurant the night before, so this meal had a lot to live up to. It started a little flat, when we were presented with a canapé of.... a cheese fritter. Tasted ok, but I'm afraid it looked like it was... More

Description
The Alderley is a split-level conservatory on wooded slopes overlooking the Cheshire countryside. The family-run feel of the main sandstone country house is felt here too, where warm browns, gentle lighting and exemplary front-of-house staff make you really rather comfortable. The food's exceptionally good; all freshly made and sourced locally, as the breads and homemade butters testify. Temptations are many, like rump of Cheshire lamb, slow-cooked tomatoes, baby roasted potatoes and garden mint, £23.15, and 'Treacletown' pudding with butterscotch ice cream and toffee sauce, £6.50. Not to mention seared liver and bacon with herb mash and redcurrant jus from the table d'hote lunch menu, £13.95 for two excellent courses. Meals can be scaled up or down, as you like.
