After an awesome school field trip to Old Salem with my son's 3rd grade class, my son and I stayed behind to visit a few more places in Old Salem. The Tavern in Old Salem was fabulous! Despite the fact were were arriving on the heels of closing time, the staff was extremely welcoming and the food was delicious. The... More

Based on the reviews from tripadvisor we decided to stop by. I always check the sanitation score when I enter a restaurant and was hesitate here when I noticed a 91.5. Normally I would have left but tired and not wanting to look else where we stayed. Lunch & coffee was good though. Ordered biscuits/muffins for a appetizer and they... More

Eating at the Old Tavern is a great way to experience the past. A meal by candlelight in one of the upstairs rooms of this old house was delightful. The drinks and food were delicious. I had the tomato bisque and a strawberry, candied pecan and goat cheese salad. My daughter ordered fried green tomatoes and the crawfish and grits.... More

I choose this establishment based on Trip Advisor status- did not disappoint. Very cool old building with old world charm and ambiance. I had grilled catfish- first time I've ever had catfish not fried. It was delicious, and it had a pepper jelly on the top I would never think to put on fish. I can't wait to go back.... More

How about a full dose of historic quaintness ? This authentic Old Salem venue is pleasing to the eye and pleasant to the palate. The menu was innovative and delicious. Service was excellent. Linger torte for dessert was a dry disappointment, though.

During our recent visit to Old Salem, we ate two fantastic dinners at The Tavern in Old Salem. The experience was terrific on both occasions. The waitstaff was excellent and the fare, spectacular. Chef Jarod (I believe) prepared the most delicious recipes and even came to our table after our meal to introduce himself and share a bit of history... More

Omg- I love this place. The building is neat and the food was delicious. I had the pork chop-yum!! The pecan pie was divine!! Everyone at my table had something different and no one was disappointed.

Don't be misled by the primitive aesthetic of this place. The food and wine are excellent as is the service. My only reservation is that the front dining room has electric lights which are too bright. We unscrewed a couple of the bulbs (with the agreement of the other diners in the room) and the atmosphere was much improved.

If you are visiting Old Salem Village, eating at the Tavern is a must. Reminiscent of those at Williamsburg or Sturbridge Village. The food and drink are soooo delicious, but the Linzer Torte took the cake (literally and figuratively. Must stop along your tour of this historic place.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch as part of our day of touring Old Salem. We were greeted and seated very quickly. Our server was Michelle. She did an awesome job telling us our menu and specials options. The food tasted great and the lemon ice cream and ginger bread for dessert was scrumptious! Prices were fair, service... More
