Met a friend in Wilmington today and we happened to both park near here...and the line was out the door at 11 am! We only had to wait a short time to be seated. It was definitely worth the wait! The brunch menu had more than was online. I tried the Spinach Feta Grill and my friend had the Crabcake... More

First let me say the food was amazing! I will give the food a top score. However, the service was terrible. I had 3 servers ask if I wanted a beverage.....I had given the first one who asked my order, he just didn't bring it. After I got my drink it took another 10 minutes for someone to take my... More

The Basics is conveniently located in the Cotton Exchange building in the historic district. The food is both delicious and healthy. Brunch sports everything from grits and eggs, to omelets, to hamburgers. Additionally, the restaurant is open and inviting.

This place is amazing. I have eaten here several times, mostly for brunch/breakfast but I have also enjoyed lunch here. The servers are very attentive to your needs and make you feel right at home. The food has a southern flair and you will walk out of there with a smile. Brunch always includes their famous oatmeal blueberry pancakes which... More

Basics was recommended to be by a local. A small, busy place, even at the "off" times. There are specials written on the board, but the one I was interested in was sold out even in the early afternoon. I chose the meatloaf and was very pleased. Served a nice sized slice with brown gravy on top of real mashed... More

Wow! Fresh fruit plate was full of all types of fruit. Fresh peach yogart. I had the Benedict breakfast with biscuit pork sausage gravy runny eggs! Wow! So good! You must eat here! I forgot to take the pic before I ate it! Haha. You can see I almost licked the plate.

We were traveling for business and happened upon this cute eclectic restaurant. It was a great experience. Our waitress made the experience even better. You could tell there was a lot of thought out into the menu items. The owners had hand written the menu which was a wonderful personal touch. We had fried green tomatoes and salads with a... More

We ate here on a girls trip and enjoyed the spin on traditional favorites. The pumpkin muffin was spectacular. It is a busy place so we did have a short wait for a table. They also ran out of some specials while we were there, but that just goes to show how good the food is. The restaurant is in... More

My wife and I made a last minute reservation last night (Saturday) at The Basics, partly due to location and partly due to the more American style menu and were pleased with our visit. The waitress (Rebecca I believe) was very attentive and knowledgeable without being over bearing. Her wine recommendations were appreciated. We tried the butternut squash bisque which... More

On our second morning in Wilmington, my wife wanted to search for breakfast by exploring some streets we had not yet walked. Well that method worked out exceedingly well. This small place has a short and unusual menu. Our eggs had spinach, tomatoes, feta and balsamic reduction. Sounds unusual but tasted great. Waitress was nice and the ambiance was pretty... More
