My daughter and I went here for the first time and will definitely be back. We ordered plain old Chocolate and Vanilla and they were both delicious!

We always enjoy their ice cream, soft serve or homemade hard pack. You can sit outside or take a walk around the block as you eat your ice cream - right in the middle of town. Service very friendly, worth a stop. Enjoy!
Spikes Dairy Bar is about as good as it gets if you're looking for a "no-frills" out-door ice cream experience. Everything is immaculate, the service is excellent and the selection of flavors is more than adequate. Our only complaint is the lack of seating for those of us who would like to sit and lick instead of eat on the... More
This review is only about the wait time...which is absolutely ridiculous for one cone. The staff was disorganized and obviously lacked basic training. They were courteous - but in a tourist town...with only a handful of customers waiting...it shouldn't take 20 minutes to get a softee cone. How do you run out of product in the middle of the day?... My sister visited over the 4th of July. We went downtown early to get a spot for the parade. Spikes as seating with tables and umbrellas for customers. We promptly bought an Eskimo, soft serve with shaved ice over! Oh my, Ssooooo good and refreshing on a very hot day....suffice it to say we bought 2 more throughout the day... More
This was a small ice cream place within walking distance of downtown Southport/ waterfront. There were a lot of variety of flavors and types. The kid scoops was a good choice for us. They were reasonably priced. There was good outside seating in the shade.
It is very popular and an institution in Southport, especially in summer. Make a pitstop and enjoy on the chairs or benches or stroll towards the waterfront.
Spike's is a block from the center of town. It's a little shop with tables and chairs on a porch and in the yard. They serve fantastic chili dogs, with all the extras. There are a remarkable number of hard ice cream flavors, and the usual chocolate, vanilla, or swirl soft serve flavors. You can choose from many toppings, or... More
When our grandkids visit we always stop at Spikes for an ice cream cone. We always linger watching people on the main drag of Southport
