We walked in as the only customers. Friendly staff served us quickly and with humor. Im sorry to know that the ladies were going to have a long evening because there was nearly no business. The food had a very good flavor and we will be back in the future.

We came into Dickeys today and boy we were satisfied. Nice portions and food was delicious. Brisket is great and very tender. Suggest the ribs as the other person in my party got ribs. I definitely recommend this location in Southern Pines. We will be back soon. Thanks for a great time.

I think Dickey's Barbeque Pit is Southern Pines' best kept secret. The food is outstanding and the portions are generous including daily specials, a refillable Big Yellow Cup and yes, a free ice cream cone for dessert. Dickey's staff, including Trumell, Anita, Hannah and Becky treat me like family with fast, friendly and personable service. Being a health-nut, I recommend... More

Whenever we go visit family in Southern Pines, we always get Dickey's for dinner! Love the pulled pork and brisket, and their vinegar based sauce is my favorite! Their sides are delicious too! Always our first choice for delicious take out!

This is a chain/franchise and each one can be different. I would not recommend this location. Made us wait to even take our order. Do not waste your time much less your money!

While the barbecue may be acceptable, the service leaves a lot to be improved on. On our visit we wait 10 minutes to be waited on ( it's a walk up counter) while 3 people behind the counter watch us, and then was wished a pleasant day as we left WITHOUT being waited on. This was our second visit and... More

Was in a hurry like a Flavor Flav in a blurry. Walked in and it was like a ghost town so it had me concerned at first. Also, they were out of brisket which was disappointing. However, I got the 2-meat special w/ hushpuppies and waffle fries... it was thick, delicious, and outstanding! Would recommend for someone who is burned... More

I dropped in for lunch on a weekday and was not disappointed. I had the two meat platter for $14. The brisket and the ribs were excellent. The sides were also very delicious. This barbecue place is one of the better ones I have found any Southern Pines area. I would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a... More

Dickey's Barbecue Pit is a true American success story. In 1941, Travis Dickey, a World War I veteran, opened the first Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Dallas, Texas. Dickey was a true Texas character blessed with the gift of gab and the love of authentic, slow-smoked barbecue. In the beginning, Dickey's Barbecue Pit was truly a family operation with Travis working the block and Miss Ollie Dickey serving sandwiches. Space on the restaurant sign was rented out to help pay the start-up costs for the restaurant and the menu was limited to beef brisket, pit hams, barbecue beans, potato chips, beer, bottled milk and sodas. Brothers Roland and T.D. Dickey took over the business in 1967, continuing their father's legacy of quality, hickory smoked signature meats. Under the direction of the Dickey brothers, Dickey's Barbecue Pit expanded throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area and quickly became known throughout Texas for mouthwatering hickory-smoked barbecue, popular catered events and the iconic Big Yellow Cups. Franchising began in 1994 after loyal guests and barbecue fanatics demanded more locations. Today with over 530 locations in 43 states, loyal guests are what keep Dickey's thriving in every community. The brand has come a long way from Travis Dickey's first location. But, some things never change. Dickey's Barbecue Pit still slow smokes all meats on-site just the same way they did in 1941. The menu features beef brisket, pulled pork, St. Louis style ribs, polish sausage, spicy cheddar sausage, smoked turkey, and marinated chicken, with an extensive array of homestyle sides from jalapeño beans to macaroni and cheese. Buttery rolls are served with every meal along with complimentary ice cream. And just like always, kids eat free on Sunday.
